Sree Panchamuga Shivan Temple is located in Sivan Koil Street in a busy West Mogappair area in Chennai. The Temple was started in a small way with the installation of Ganapathi Idol in 1991. In the year 1997 and 2000 Sri Pancha Muga Shivan and Goddess Kameshwari were installed and all the other Idols were installed subsequently. The Presiding Deity of Pancha Muga Shivan is known as Lord Kameshwarar here. The Temple has a Welcome board on the main road leading to the Street in which the Temple is situated. The Temple is West facing and the Presiding Deity here is Sri Pancha Mukha Sivan found as a Shiva Lingam with five faces, and who is an incarnation of Lord Shiva. Just before the Sanctum Sanctorum the Maha Mandapam is fully tiled. At the entrance of the Sanctum Sanctorum is a Ganapathi Vigraham who is known here as Vidhya Ganapathi and He is found holding a Yettuchuvadi in His hand. On the other side Lord Subramaniyar or Lord Murugan is seen along with His Consorts Valli and Devasena. The Consort of this Temple is known as Goddess Kameshwari who is found in a sitting posture in Her Shrine facing South and She is believed to be an incarnation of Goddess Parvathy. Just beneath Her Divine Feet is a Poorna Mahameru Yanthiram. The Urchavamoorthy for the Ambal are known as Varaahi, Lalitha Parameswari and Raaja Mathangi. At the entrance of the Ambal Shrine there are Vigrahams for Dakshina Kaali and Kaala Bhairavar. There is a Black Anjaneya Swamy Idol facing East which is mounted on a podium and facing Him is the Navagraha enclosure. There is a small Sub Shrine within the Temple in which Goddess Sankadahara Durgai is seen facing East. There is a Palliyarai in which the Panchaloga Idols of Shivan and Parvathy could be seen. On an elevated Podium Lord Raama, Lakshmana and Goddess Seetha are seen West facing inside a glass panel. Outside the panel a pair of Ramar Paadam along with Anjaneya Swami are seen. All the above mentioned Idols have carved out of white marble. It is said that behind Lord Rama 18 Crore Rama Naamas have been written and have been safely secured. Lord Sudharshanar and Lord Narasimhar carved out of a Panchaloga metal are seen back to back. Close to it is a black Shiva Lingam known as Athma Lingam, and the black Idol of Anantha Sastha is also seen there. Apart from these there are Idols for Vaduga Bhairavar, Pillayar, Dhakshinamoorthy and Chandikeshwarar. A white marble Sai Baba facing West is seen in a sitting posture in a separate Sub Shrine. When circumambulating the Temple the Sub Shrine of Uchista Ganapathy could be seen East facing. Every Anusham the Maha Periyava Idol is annointed and Aradhana done and the Silver Sandal of Maha Periyava too is Prayed and a Pooja offered. Likewise the Sai Baba's miniature Idol is taken within the inner peripheral of the Temple in a wooden Palanquin. The Temple assumes great importance since it is the only known Pancha Mukha Shivan Temple in Chennai.
