The Temple is situated in Koyambedu just behind TOYOTA Car Showroom and could be reached from Poonamallee High Road. Just before entering the Temple is a Pillared Mandapam for Sarabeshwarar where the Idols of different Gods and Goddess could be seen. Usually Sarabeshwarar in other Temples is aggressive but her in this Temple quite contrary to it He is very docile. The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Lord Kurungaleeswarar who is otherwise called as Lord Kuchavalapureeswarar and He is considered as an incarnation of Lord Shiva. Lord Kurungaleeswarar Blesses His Devotees from the Sanctum Sanctorum where He is found as a Shiva Lingam. His Consort Goddess Dharmasamvardhani or Aram Valartha Nayagi is found in another Sub Shrine. This the only Shiva Temple in the whole of India where Lord Shiva and His Consort are North facing. Surya Bhagwan can be seen seated on a chariot drawn by Seven Horses and He can be seen along with His Consorts Usha and Pradyusha. It is believed that worshipping Surya Bhagavan on Ratha Sapthami is considered as auspicious. The Navagraha enclosure is around this Surya Bhagwan Sub Shrine. The Temple has two Nandhi Bhagawan. One is the Adhikaara Nandhi and the other is Pradosha Nandhi. This is the only Temple where we can find the nose of the Nandhi Bhagawan pierced with a Mookanang Kayiru. The Adhikara Nandhi has a face of a typical Nandhi and the rest of His body is found in a Human form. This Temple has Sub Shrines for Gods and Goddesses like Brahmma, Chandikeshwarar, 63 Nayanmaars, Kaala Bhairavar, Kabala Bhairavar, Veerabadra, Gnanobadhesa Dakshinamoorthy, Naalvar, Maha Vishnu, Vishnu Durgai, Agastheeswarar, Subramaniyar, Lingodhbavar, Sastha, Lakshmi, Gnana Saraswathi, Naga Devathas, Viswanathar, Visalakshi, Annamalaiyar, Valli Devasena Samedha Subramaniyar and Somaskandamoorthy. It is believed Lava Kusa worshipped here and got relieved from Pithru Dhosham. Hence this Temple is considered as Pithru Dosha Parihaara Sthalam. The Temple has a Yaaga Salai and a Madapalli or a Temple Kitchen. There is a free Annadhana Koodam available with Tables and Chairs. The Sthala Viruksham of this Temple is a Palaa Maram or a Jackfruit Tree and the Theertham of this Temple is Kusalava Theertham which is huge and clean. Festivals like Chithirai Brahmmotsavam, Arudra Darshanam are celebrated in a grand Manner. There is a book stall selling Divine books and this is placed within the Temple Premises. There are lots of shops selling flowers and other Pooja articles. Though Koyambedu is considered as a congested place this Temple has ample car parking area and vehicles could be parked with ease.
