Tiruchchuli is a Town located in Virudhunagar District and the name of the Temple in Thiruchuli is Thirumeninatha Swamy Temple. There is an East facing Welcome Arch and the vehicles can be brought within the compound and parked. The Temple has an East facing five tiered Rajagopuram. Beneath the Rajagopuram is an Adhikaara Nandhi. There is a multi pillared Mandapam in which various Deities have been sculpted. Beyond it there is a huge gold painted door after which there is a Dwajasthambam or Kodimaram, a Neivedhya Peedam or Bali Peedam and a Nandhi Vaahanam which faces Westwards towards the Moolasthanam. In the multi pillared Mandapam there are several Idols like Muthirulai Ammal, Muthu Karauppannan Servaikarar, Andiannan Servaikarar and Velayutham Servaikarar. Before entering the Moolasthanam there is a Vinayagar on the left and a Murugan on the right flanked by Valli and Devasena. Devotees may have to climb 4 to 5 steps to reach the Moolasthanam. At the entrance of it there are two huge Dwara Baalaka Idols facing East and they stand guard. Sri Thirumeninathar is seen East facing in the form of a Swayambhu Shivalingam and He is also called as Sri Bhoominatha Swamy or Sri Bhuminathar. The other names of the Presiding Deities are Sri Thanga Thirumeninathar, Sri Chuzhikesar, Sri Pralayavidangar, Sri Kalyana Sundarar, Sri Bhuvaneswarar and Sri Manakolanathar. Around the Koshtam are the Idols of Dhakshinamoorthy, Lingothbhavar, Durgai and Chandikeshwarar. There is a unique Natarajar Sannadhi and He is seen along with Goddess Sivagami Ambal. It is unique since this Natarajar Idol is fully made of Dried Herbs. Close to this Sannadhi are the Urchavamoorthy Idols of Somaskandar and Naalvars. The ceiling of the inner peripheral and the pillars found therein are beautifully painted in contrast colours making it look eye appealing to the Devotees. In the pillared corridor the Idols of the 63 Naayanmaars are seen North facing. In between these Naayanmaars the Idols of Gouthama Munivar and Agaligai are also seen. Next to the Naayanmaars are the Idols of the Sapthamathas viz. Brahmmi, Maheswari, Goumari, Vaishnavi, Vaarahi, Indrani and Chamundi. Close to this is the East facing Idols of Sampoorna Vinayagar, Somaskandar, Vigneshwarar, Kasi Viswanathar, Visalakshi and Vallaba Vinayagar. Next to them is the East facing Idol of Chuzhigai Govindar who is flanked by Lakshmi and Bhooma Devi. Next to this is the East facing Sub Shrine of Subramaniyar flanked by Valli and Devasena. There is a West facing Bhairavar, Saneeswarar, Chandran and Suryan. Chandran and Suryan are flanked by their Consorts.
The Ambal's Shrine has a three tiered Rajagopuram. There is an East facing Ambal's Shrine where She is seen in a standing posture and She is known here are Sri Thunai Malaiammai or Sri Sahayavalli or Sri Muthumalai Umayal. There is a Dwajasthambam, a Neivedhya Peedam and a Nandhi Vaahanam facing the Shrine of the Ambal. There are two Dwara Baalaki Idols placed on either side of Her Shrine. A Sri Chakkaram is chiselled on the ceiling of the Ambal Sannadhi. Likewise the 12 Raasis are designed and embossed on the ceiling of the Mandapam before the Ambal's Shrine. The Mandapam before the Ambal's Shrine has multiple pillars and on the base of two such pillars and Idol of Vinayagar and another Idol of Moochukuthammal. Around the Koshtam of the Ambal the Idols of Iccha Sakthi, Kiriya Sakthi, Gnana Sakthi and Chandikeshwari are seen. Around the Ambal's Shrine there is a Sub Shrine for Vinayagar, Murugan flanked by His Consorts and a Palliyarai.
This Temple is said to be around 2000 years old. It is one among the 276 Thevara Paadal Petra Sthalam. The Sthala Viruksham of this Temple is Arasa Maram and Punnai Maram and the Pushkarani or Theertham is Bagaveri River or Kundaru, and Kavvaikadal or Olipunari Theertham. The Temple has a Madapalli an Annadhana Koodam and a Spiritual Library within its premises. Purattasi Navarathri, Aavani Moolam, Chithirai Vishu, Aadi Thapasu, Thaipoosam, Panguni Brahmmothsavam, Pradosham, Maha Shivarathiri are the festivals that are celebrated in a grand manner. Thiruchuli gains more prominence since it happens to be the birth place of Ramana Maharishi.
