Some Devotees mention Sri Vagunda Perumal Temple as Vaigundavasa Perumal Temple. The Temple is located on the main road in Mangadu and it has a five tiered East facing Rajagopuram. Those opting to come from the main road can enter the Temple through the East facing Rajagopuram. Devotees who visit other Temples in Mangadu can also enter the Temple through its Southern entrance. There is a Welcome Arch at the South side entrance and Devotees coming from this side can enter the Temple through the South Welcome Arch. Devotees who enter through the Rajagopuram may have to climb down 4 to 5 steps to reach the level of the Temple. There is a Neivedhiya Peedam or Bali Peedam placed on top of a Podium. Sri Vaigunda Perumal Temple does not have a Dwajasthambam or Flag Staff. To the right is a Sub Shrine of Vigneshwarar and to the left is a Sub Shrine of Nagarajar and both of them face Westwards towards the Moolasthanam. Devotees cannot enter the Temple Moolasthanam beyond the Neivedhiya Peedam. Instead they may have to circumambulate and enter the Moolasthanam through the South entrance. Two South facing Dwarabalagaas are found on either side of this entrance leading to the Moolasthanam. On entering the Maha Mandabam through the South entrance there is a Sub Shrine for Garudalwar who is seen facing the Moolasthanam. Generally in other Perumal Temples Garudalwar is found with His Wings spread apart whereas in this Temple the Garudalwar is seen with His Wings folded. There is another South facing Sub Shrine here in which the Idols of Thirukachi Nambi and Sri Ramanujar are kept. At the entrance of the Moolasthanam there are two huge Dwarabalakaa Idols who are black and resplendent. and they are found on either side of the entrance. In the Sanctum Sanctorum the Presiding Deity of Sri Vaikunda Perumal is seen East facing and in a sitting posture. He is flanked on either side by His Consorts Sree Devi and Bhoo Devi. Sage Markandeya is seen meditating close to Sri Vaikunda Perumal. Within the same Moolasthanam is the Urchavamoorthy Idol of Sri Vaikunda Perumal flanked by His Consorts Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi. In the outer peripheral there is an East facing Sub Shrine in which Sri Sudharshanar / Chakrrathalwar and Yoga Narrasimhar are kept back to back. The Temple has an exclusive East facing Shrine for Sri Kanakavalli Thayar who is seen in a standing posture. Likewise there is another East facing Sub Shrine of Andal in which She is seen in a standing postture. In another corner of the outter peripheral there is a West facing Sub Shrine of Hanuman and He is known here as Baktha Anjaneyar. This West facing Idol of Sri Baktha Anjaneya Swamy is seen in a standing posture. Close to this, the Idols of Naga Devatthas are kept in an open space facing Southwards. This Temple is said to have been built during the Pallava regime. It is believed that Maha Vishnu had come to Mangadu to attend the Wedding of Shiva with Parvathy since Maha Vishnu is considered as a Brother of Goddess Parvathy. Likewise Devotees who come to the Mangadu Kamakshi Amman Temple make it a point to attend the Temple of Sri Vaigunda Perumal too. This Temple is situated in a busy and congested market area on the main road and hence parking vehicles becomes a herculean task for the Devotees.
