Sri Sithambalam Sivan Temple is also called as Sri Navagraha Temple and it is located in a place called Sithambalam close to Palladam in Thiruppur District. The actual place where the Temple is built is called as Chinnakoundan Pudur and this is a modern Temple and the credit of building this Temple goes to Sri Kamakshi Kodi, a Hindu Priest and his followers. This Temple has a North facing entrance and Devotees have an option of parking their vehicles outside or taking it inside the Temple premises. The Temple is also North facing. At the outset, there is a Navagraha Kottai Prasadha Stall. Next to it is an East facing Sri Vinayagar Sannadhi. There are two Dwara Baalaki Idols before the Sub Shrine of this East facing Vinayagar. There is a Gunapathi Kalaiarangam where functions could be conducted. Next is an East facing Sub Shrine in which a Homa Kundam is seen and there is an East facing Image of God Shiva flanked by Sri Nandhikeshwarar. Beneath the Idol of God Shiva there is a Divine Adhi Seshan.
Heading towards the Main Temple there is a square Podium on top of which is a South facing Nandhi Vaahanam looking towards the Moolasthanam. This is surrounded by a water spring and faces the Moolasthanam. This Nandhi Vaahanam is surrounded by 27 Shiva Lingams and each of these Shiva Lingams denote a Star or Nakshtram. Each Star has a Viruksham behind it. Devotees may have to climb four to 5 steps to reach the main Temple premises. At the doorway there are two Dwara Baalaka Idols on either side and these two North facing Dwara Baalaka Idols seem to stand guard before the Moolasthanam.
In the Moolasthanam the Presiding of Sri Sithambalam Sivan is North facing and in the form of Shiva Lingam. The base of the Avudai is circular in shape and the 12 Raasis are seen on it. There is also an Idol of Shiva Lingam along with a Mahameru. The Idols of Sri Gowri, Sri Murugan, Sri Badrakaali, Sri Yamadharmarajan, Sri Chithragupthan, Sri Indhran, Sri Brahmma, Sri Maha Vishnu and Sri Rudhran are seen around it. The Presiding Deity of Sri Sithambalam Sivan who is in the form of a Shiva Lingam looks huge and massive. The Shiva Lingam when seen along with the resplendent Naagabharanam looks dazzling to the eyes of the Devotees.
The inner side of the Temple has an Idol of Sri Gajalakshmi, then there are the Navagraha Idols 9 in numbers and inbetween two Navagraha Idols there are 3 Nakshathram or Star Idols from Ashwini to Revathy. All these are arranged in a circular manner so as to make them face the Presiding Deity. This Temple is very famous for conducting Chandi Homam on every Full Moon Day or Pournami. The Temple Admin takes great care to distribute Prasadams to each and every Devotee visiting here. Generally Mobile Phones and Videography are not encouraged by the Temple Admin. In recent years many Devotees from Thiruppur, Erode and Coimbatore Districts make a beeline to this Temple due to which its name and fame is gradually spreading to every nook and corner of this District. The Temple is a well known Navagraha Dosha Parihaara Sthalam in Kongu Mandalam.
