This Temple is also called as Sri Sivanmalai Murugan Temple and it is located close to Kangeyam in Thiruppur District. At the outset there is a South facing Welcome Arch at the centre of which a coloured Idol of Sri Subramaniya Swamy is seen flanked by Valli and Devasena. At both ends of the Welcome Arch are two Peacock Vaahanams. There is another Welcome Arch too and this comprises of the Idol of Sri Murugan and Sri Vinayagar. There are two ways to reach the hilltop Temple. Devotees can either reach through a flight of steps or those travelling by vehicles could reach the Temple through a motorable ghat road for which a small fee is levied.
Even those coming by car or bike may have to climb 20 to 30 steps after which is another Welcome Arch. In this Welcome Arch Sri Murugan is seen at the centre while His Consorts Valli and Devasena are seen on either side of Him. Flanking them are two Peacock or Mayil Vaahanams. Thise who tend to come by foot can have the Darshan of Sri Vinayagar who is seen there in His Sub Shrine. There are several shelters built midway for those coming by foot and the Devotees have the option of resting for a while and then reaching the Temple top. There is an East facing Sub Shrine of Sri Vinayagar who is known here are Sri Ucchi Vinayagar. The huge cemented area has an Arasa Maram and a Veppa Maram closeby. Beneath these there is an East facing Idol of Sri Ganapathy who is flanked by Sri Raahu and Sri Kethu. Facing them is a Moonjur Vaahanam.
Then Devotees may have to climb a few wide steps and a Deepasthambam is seen beneath a four pillared Mandapam. The base of the Deepasthambam has an East facing Idol of Sri Ganapathy embossed on it. Similarly there is a West facing Palani Andavars Idol at the base of the Deepasthambam. There are Idols of a Peacock and a Vel or Divine Spear too. Facing East is a Gopuram on top of which the Arupadai Veedu Murugan's coloured Idols are visibly seen. This Temple has an East facing five tiered Rajagopuram. Close to the five tiered Rajagopuram are two East facing Idols of Sri Dwara Vinayagar and Sri Dwara Bhairavar.
Beyond the Rajagopuram is another miniscule Neivedhya Peedam and facing East is an Idol of Sri Ganapathy. Then is a huge Dwajasthambam or Kodi Maram after which there is another similar Neivedhya Peedam. Next is a West facing Mayil or Peacock Vaahanam looking towards the Moolasthanam. Close to the Dwajasthambam is a box with a glass panel and it is known as Uttharavu Petti. Plough, Book, Earth, Flower, Rice are kept inside the Uttharavu Petti. It is said that these may foretell as to what the future beholds for us. Some believe that this Sivanmalai area is just a piece of the Earth that had fallen from Meru Malai when God Shiva had bent it as a Bow during a warfare.
Devotees may have to take a serpentine root through the iron railing to reach the Moolasthanam. At the threshold of the Moolasthanam are two huge and black Dwara Baalakas who are seen East facing and standing guard. Near the left Dwara Baalaka is an Idol of Sri Juraheshwarar and four Nava Veerargal. Near the right Dwara Baalaka Idol are five more Nava Veerargal making it nine all put together. There is a huge gold plated threshold just before the Moolasthanam where again the two Dwara Baalaka Images are etched on the gold plating. In the East facing Sanctum Sanctorum the Presiding Deity of Sri Subramaniya Swamy who is also known as Sivanmalai Sri Murugan is seen in a standing posture along with His Consort Sri Valli. It is noteworthy to mention here that Sri Deivanai is not seen in the Sanbctum Sanctorum. The Urchavamoorthy Idols are seen together in an East facing Sub Shrine closeby.
This Temple is unique and different from other Murugan Temple since there is a South facing Sub Shrine in the Moolasthana Mandapam where the Idols of Sri Valli and Sri Devasena alone are seen. Consipicuously missing is the Idol of Sri Murugan here. There is another East faing Sub Shrine in which Sri Sivavaakiya Siddhar is seen Praying to Valli and Sri Murugan. In another South facing Sub Shrine an Idol of Sri Natarajar is seen along with His Consort Sri Sivagami Ambal. Close tot his Sub Shrine is the Temple's Palliayarai which is also South facing. The Koshtam contains the Idols of Sri Dhakshinamoorthy, Sri Durgai Amman and Sri Chandikeshwarar.
The Temple has a West facing Sub Shrine for Sri Surya Bhagwan and facing this Sub Shrine is an East facing Idol of Sri Ganapathy. The peripheral of the Temple has an East facing Sub Shrine of Sri Kailsanathar who is seen in the form of a Shiva Lingam and facing Him is a Nandhi Vaahanam. Next to this is the Shrine of Sri Gnanambika Ambal. She is seen in a standing posture and East facing with a Abhaya Hastam and this is described as Kalyana Kolam. Facing Her Sannadhi is a Nandhi Vaahanam. Most of the ceiling of this Temple has been beautifully painted in different designs. The outer peripheral has an East facing Sub Shrine of Sri Kannimoola Ganapathy. Similarly there is another East facing Sub Shrine of Sri Dhandapani who is seen alone and in a standing posture. The Sthala Viruksham of the Temple is known as Thoratti Maram. Close to this Thoratti Maram is the East facing Sub Shrine of Sri Nava Kannigaigal. The Sub Shrine of Sri Saneeswarar is East facing and He is seen in a standing posture. The Temple has a huge hall on the walls of which the Images of Sri Sivanmalai Murugan, Sri Sivavaakiya Siddhar etc are beautifully painted. The Temple also has a Navagraha Sannadhi and a South facing Sub Shrine for Sri Bhairavar.
The Sthala Viruksham of the Temple is Thoratti Maram and the Theertham is known as Kasi Theertham. The Temple's Chariot is safely enclosed in a shutter on the vast stretch of area opposite to the Temple. On top of it is an coloured Idol of Sri Sivanmalai Murugan. This Temple has a vast cemented area on the frontal side and there are several shops selling Fruits, Flowers and Garlands. The Temple's Madapalli and a huge Annadhana Koodam is also seen. Thulaabaara Facilities exists here for the sake of the Devotees. A Ghoshala is also found here and this is well maintained by the Temple. The Temple's Office is also seen here. There are Sevas Counters through which Devotees can buy Tickets for various Sevas and Darshans. Close to this is a Kalyana Mandapam where Marriages could be performed. Shasti, Kiruthigai, Thiru Karthigai, Arudhra Dharisanam, Vinayagar Chathurthi are some of the festivals celebrated in a grand manner.
