Kandiyur or Thirukandiyur  is a village located close to Thiruvaiyaru in Thanjavur District. This place is also called as Kandhana Kshethram or Pancha Kamala Shetjram. This Temple is located close to Rivers Kudamurutti and Vennaru. This Hara Shaaba Vimochana Perumal Temple has been sung highly in Naalaayira Dhivya Prabhandham and it is one among the 108 Dhivya Desam dedicated to Maha Vishnu. Sri Hara Shaba Vimochana perumal temple has a five tiered East facing Rajagopuram. It is believed that Sri Hara Saaba Vimocchana Perumal has appeared to Sivan, Brahmma and King Mahabali. It is a rare Temple and one of the two Temples in which Shiva, Maha Vishnu and Brahmma appear within the same premises. It is widely believed that Shiva incurred a few curses when he cut off one of the heads of Brahmma. To get rid of those curses Shiva came to this Temple and Prayed to Sri Hara Saaba Vimochana Perumal who is seen East facing and in a standing posture in the Sanctum Sanctorum. Later Shiva took a holy dip in the Kamala Pushkarani which is the Temple's Sacred Tank and got rid of all His curses. In those days the Sacred Tank was called as Kapaala Theertham. There is another Sacred Tank which is called as Mahabali Theertham. The Consort of this temple is known as Sri Kamalavalli Nachiyar and She has a Shrine of Her own. The Sub Shrines of Sri Santhana Gopalan and Sri Navaneethakrishnan are famous here. The other Sub Shrines are those of Sri Narasimhar, Sri Sudharshanar, Sri Andal, Sri Vedandhta Desikar and Alwars. There is a general belief that Devotees would get relieved from their Brhmmahathi Dhosham if they pay a visit to this Temple. Some devotees also say that this temple is even older than Srirangam Ranganathaswamy Temple. This temple follows the Vadakalai Sampradhayam. Panguni Brahmmotsavam, Aipasi Pavithra Utsavam, Vaikunda Ekadesi, Karthikai Deepam etc are celebrated in a grand manner.
