This Temple is around 600 years old and this place was initially called as Boopathyrajapuram. It is said that a white swine known as Varaham in Tamil led Saint Narayana Theerthar to this Temple and then vanished. Soon people started calling Boopathyrajapuram as Varahapuri which later got altered as Varagur. There is a North facing Welcome Arch leading to the Temple of Sri Venkatesa Perumal in Varagur which is located in a residential Agraharam. The top of the Welcome Arch consists of several Divine Idols while the inner side of the Welcome Arch shows a Swine leading Narayana Theerthar to this Temple. This is an East facing Temple and there is a small three tiered Rajagopuram. On either side of the Rajagopuram are two Idols of Anjaneya Swamy and another two Idols of Garudalwar. On entering the Temple there is a Shrine for Garudalwar who is West facing towards the Moolasthanam. Before this Shrine is a multi pillared Mandapam and all the pillars looks dazzling since they are gold plated. Just before the Moolasthanam are two Idols of Dwara Baalagas on either side and close to one of the Dwara Baalaga Idol is an East facing Ganapathy. The Moolasthanam looks even more glittering to the eyes of the Devotees since the threshold is gold plated.  The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Sri Lakshmi Narayana Perumal and He is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He Blesses His Devotees along with His Consort Goddess Mahalakshmi Thaayar and She is seen seated on the left lap of the Presiding Deity. The Urchavar of this Temple is known as Sri Venkatesa Perumal and hence this Temple is named as Sri Venkatesa Perumal Temple. The Urchavamoorthy is seen along with Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi. The Vimanam above the Sanctum Sanctorum is known as Padma Vimanam. Here the Presiding Deity Blesses His Devotees in three forms like Varahar, Kannan and Lakshminarayana. A staunch Devotee named Narayana Theerthar had a serious smotach ailment and He had a dream in which He was ordered to follow the animal the next day so that he could see Lord Almighty. In obedience to his dream he saw a white swine the next day and followed it till this Temple after which the white swine disappeared. Hence  Narayana Theerthar Prayed in this Temple after which is long pending stomach ailment vanished in a trice. This Temple is a considered as a cure for stomach related ailments. The hand drawn images of this Narayana Theerthar and Varagur Gopalan could be seen on the walls of the Temple. It is believed that this Temple is known as Puthra Bakiya Parihara Sthalam. Here Lord Hanuman can be seen playing Thalam for Krishna Leela. Some say that the Chola KIng Paranthaka Cholan called the Presiding Deity as Lakshmi Narayana Perumal. At the rear of the Temple there is a Temple office and another area where they have stacked the Temple Vaahanams. This Temple has a Sorga Vaasal with two Dwara Baalagas on its Northern flank. the threshold of the Sorga Vaasal is fully gold plated and Dasavathara Images and Ashta Lakshmi Images are etched on this. Next to the Temple is a Veda Bhavanam and Divine Rituals pertaining to this Temple are conducted here. This Temple has wheel chair facilities. This Temple draws huge number of Devotees during Uriyadi Festival during Krishna Jayanthi.
