This Temple is also known as Sri Kola Villi Ramar Temple and its located close to Kumbakonam on the Kumbakonam to Chennai Highway Road in a place called Thiruvelliyankudi in Thanjavur District. It is one of the Dhivya Desam Temples and lavishly praised in the Naalaayira Dhivya Prabhandham. The Temple has a 3 tiered Rajagopuram which is East facing. There is a Dwajasthambam or Kodi Maram and a Neivedhya Peedam or Bali Peedam and a Garudalwar Sannadhi which faces the Moolasthanam. This Garudalwar is considered as a very powerful one and is known as Sri Sadhurbuja Garudalwar. The entire Temple complex is slightly elevated and Devotees have to climb around 7 to 8 steps. It is believed that Sage Sukrachariar is said to have come and he did Penance and regained his lost vision here when Maha Vishnu appeared in His Kalyana Kolam before the Sage.

It is said that the Sanctum Sanctorum is built with Granite whereas all other Sub Shrines have been built with Bricks. On top of the door leading to the Moolasthanam is a Sri Gajalakshmi Idol with two elephants beside Her. Close to this is an Idol for Sri Visvakshenar which is kept on an elevated podium. On one side of a multi pillared Mandapam they have kept the Temple Vaahanams and on the other side are the Idols of Sri Nammalwar, Sri Periyalwar, Sri Thirumangaialwar, Sri Kulasekara Alwar, Sri Ramanujar and Sri Desigar. Just before the Moolasthanam are Idols for Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy and Sri Varadharaja Perumal. Jayan and Vijayan. The two Dwarabaalagas are found standing on the threshold of the Sanctum Sanctorum. In the Moolavar Sannadhi Sri Kola Villi Ramar is also known as Sri Sheerapthi Nathar. He is found here in a Bhujanga Sayanam. The Urchavamurthy is known as Sri Devi Bhoo Devi Samedha Sri Sringara Sundarar. There is another Urchavamurthy here known as Sri Thirumanjana Perar and Abhishekam is done to Him alone. The Goddess of this Temple is called as Sri Maragathavalli Thaayar and She is seen in a multi pillared Mandabam. She is seen in a sitting posture and is East facing in her Sub Shrine and Her Urchavamurthy Idols too are preserved  here. There is a Sub Shrine for Sri Andal Nachiyar too. The Temple has a Nandhavanam or a Temple Garden. There is a Temple Kitchen or a Madapalli. This Temple is gaining prominence since it is believed that those suffering from Eye Ailments come here and get cured very soon. It is also considered as a Sukhra Dosha Parihaara Sthalam.
