This is an Amman Temple known as Arulmigu Kannur Amman Temple located on the main road in Vadavirinchipuram close to Virinjipuram.  The Presiding Deity is Arulmigu Kannur Amman who is made out of a Black Idol and kept in the Sanctum Sanctorum.  Opposite to the main building of the Sanctum is a tinned roofing under which a Simha Vaahanam of a Lion and a Bali Peedam carved out of a black stone are kept.  Close to it is a Thirusoolam or a Trident and a camphor stand.  There is another Swayambhu Kannur Amman which many say as the original Kannur Amman and this is found adjacent to the Main Shrine beneath a Arasa Maram and a Neem Tree.  This area is like a Divine Shrine with a mini compound but it does not have a roofing and Devotees come and pray before the Swayambhu Amman with reverence.  Close to it is an Anthill and this is worshipped too.  Opposite to the Main Shrine 3 bricks have been lined up together and they have been smeared with Turmeric and Kumkum and the natives are worshipping this as Muneeswaran and this is the place where Tonsuring and Ear Boring ceremonies are performed.  Just on entering the Temple premises they have a tinned roofing area where small functions could be held with ease.  The Temple has hip high compound wall on 3 sides and the other side facing the road has a taller compound wall fitted with a grill gate.  The Temple has an electric gong.  Devotees whose marriage is to be done and couple who are childless come here and offer some special prayers and it is said that their wishes are fulfilled very soon. Aadi Month Thiruvizha or function are performed in a grand manner day and night for a week.  They do have a small Temple office beside which is the Temple Chariot.
