This Temple is located on the outskirts of Chennai Metro. It is  a Raahu Parihaara Sthalam, often referred as Vada Thirunageswaram. The Presiding Deity here is Lord Shiva who assumes the name  Nageswarar or the Snake God. His Consort Parvathi is known by the name Kamakshi Amman. There is a separate Shrine for Goddess Kamakshi Amman. Poet Sekkizhar was born in Kundrathur and it is widely believed that it was he who built this Temple.  The entry point ceiling and a few other places  are well decorated with coloured painting. There is a huge Dwajasthambam and a Nandhee on entering the Temple. There are Shrines for Murugan, Ganesh, Dhakshinamurthy, Vishnu, Chandikeswarar, Brahma, Vishnu Durgai  and Kaala Bhairavarar.  Poet Sekkizhar who built this Temple enjoys a separate Shrine too. It is said that Poet Sekkizhar happened to visit Thirunageswaram near Kumbakonam and was fascinated by that Temple. Hence, on reaching back Kundrathur he started building this Temple. With passage of time the original Lingam installed by Poet Sekkizhar started  deteriorating.  Now this Lingam has been replaced by a new one with the help of numerous Devotees. Brahmothsavam and Guru Pooja are celebrated in a grand manner. Poor feeding is a hallmark of this Temple.  A Temple Tank is situated diagonally opposite to the Temple.  Devotees from far and near throng this Temple on auspicious days for offering Parihaara Pooja. Aippasi Annabishegam, Arudhra Dharisanam, Masi Magam, Pradhosham, Navarathri, Maha Shivarathiri are some of the festivals are celebrated in a grand manner.
