The Presiding Deity is Lord Shiva as Sri Somanatheswara Swami and His Consort Goddess Parvathi is known here by the name Sri Akilandeswari.  This Temple is located on the Kovoor to Anakaputhur Road, just beneath the Tambaram to Maduravoyal  Bye Pass Road in Tharapakkam.  Lord Somanatheswara and Goddess Akilandeswari have  seperate Shrines.  Apart from the Main Deity,  there are Shrines for Selva Ganapathy, Murugan, Ayyappan, Chandikeshwarar, Lingothbhavar, Sapthamathas,  Nalvar, Navagraham, Dakshinamoorthy, Kaala Bhairavar  and Naga Devatha.   It is believed that  Sage Agasthiya visited this area during his time.  There is a huge Brass Bell kept on one corner of the Temple.  Pradhoksham, Sankadahara Chathurthi and Theipirai Ashtami Poojas attract a lot of crowd from in and around this place.  There is a Ghoshala also in which there are few cows.  This Temple could be reached only by 2 Wheelers, Cars and Autos only since there is no direct bus service available.  This is not a Government Temple but Rajkumar Jain looks after the entire needs of the Temple.  The Priest Mr.Karthikeya Gurukkal has been alloted a small house inside the Temple and could be contacted at any time.
