  • Sri Arthanareeswarar Temple, Nanganallur, Chennai, Tamil Nadu

The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Lord Ardhanreeswarar who is an incarnation of Lord Shiva. He Blesses His Devotees along with His Consort Goddess Arthanareeswari. This Temple complex is built facing East and has a five tiered Rajagopuram. There is a huge Temple Tank near this Temple complex.  Like other Temples this Temple also has a Dwajasthambam, Bali Peedam and Nandhi Mandapam. The Sanctum Sanctorum consist of Artha Mandapam and Maha Mandapam. In Koshtam, Gods and Goddesses like Vinayakar, Dakshinamoorthy, Lingothbavar, Brahma and Durgai can be seen. Inside the Sanctum Sanctorum Lord Arthanarishwarar can be seen in a standing posture. In front of the Sanctum Sanctorum there are Sub Shrines for Lord Bala Ganapathy and Bala Subramaniar. It is believed that the Idol of the Presiding Deity was discovered from the Temple Tank itself. Sub Shrines for Natarajar, Arthanareeswarar, Somaskandar and Navagrahas can be seen in the Temple complex. The Idol of Ashtabuja Durga is the real  eye catching aspect here since this Idol is around 8 feet tall.
