Sri Jambukeshwarar Temple is a well known ancient Temple in Korattur and it is located in Jambukeshwarar Nagar close to Vivekananda School. The full name of the Temple is Sri Akilandeshwari Samedha Sri Jambukeshwarar Temple, Jambukeshwarar Nagar, Korattur. It is believed that this Temple is more than 1500 years old. Sri Jambukeswarar Temple has dual entrance but the Temple is without a Rajagopuram. There is an East facing entrance which most of the Devotees make use of. The other entrance of this Temple is South facing. The South facing entrance of this Temple has an Iyyappan Sub Shrine on the left which is East facing. Swamy Iyyappan is seen here in a sitting posture. The Temple has a Dwajasthambam or Kodi Maram, a Neivedhya Peedam or Bali Peedam and a Nandhi Vaahanam within a four pillared Mandapam facing West towards the Moolasthanam. The Gopuram of the Moolasthanam has coloured Idols of Somaskandar on the East and the Idols of Shivan, Parvathy, Ganapathy and Murugan on the Southern side. The rear of the Moolasthanam looks splendid since it has been built in the Gajabrushtam Style which portrays as though it is built in a manner similar to that of the rear of an Elephant. In the Sanctum Sanctorum the Presiding Deity of Sri Jambukeshwarar is seen East facing and in the form of Shiva Lingam. He is considered as an incarnation of Lord Shiva and looks resplendent to the eyes of the Devotees when seen with the Naagabharanam. Facing the Moolasthanam is yet another Nandhi Vaahanam and a small Neivedhya Peedam. The Temple is devoid of the regular Dwara Baalaka Idols. Instead there are Idols of Irattai Pillayar on the left and Valli Devasena Samedha Subramaniyar on the right just before the Moolasthanam. Close to the Shrine of Moolavar Sri Jambukeshwarar is the Shrine of Sri Akilandeshwari Ambal who is the Consort of the Presiding Deity. The Shrine of Sri Akilandeshwari Ambal is South facing and She is seen in a standing posture. Facing the Ambal's Shrine is a small Neivedhya Peedam and a Simha Vaahanam atop a podium. Next to the Ambal Sannadhi is the Sub Shrine of Sri Kaala Bhairavar who is seen standing facing South. Facing the Presiding Deity is the Idol of a West facing Surya Bhagwan. Close to this are the North facing Idols of Naalvar comprising of Thirugnana Sammandhar, Thirunavukkarasar, Sundarar and Manickavasagar. In one of the pillars facing the Moolasthanam is an Anjaneyar Idol etched on it. Likewise there is another pillar depicting a Crow. An Idol of Sage Kagabujandar is still found in one of these pillars. It is believed that Sage Kagabujandar had come here and had Prayed before Sri Jambukeshwarar to seek His Blessings. There are conflicting stories since some say that Sage Kaagabujandar had attained Jeeva Samadhi here and that the Temple premises has been built over it. Though the story is such there is no clinching evidence to prove this.
The outer peripheral of the Temple is cemented and looks even. There is a North facing Sub Shrine of Sri Atthi Mara Vinayagar and another North facing Sub Shrine of Sage Kaagabujandar. The Temple has an Alankara Mandapam in its outer peripheral but it is temporarily stack with the Temple Vaahanams. The outer peripheral of the Temple has an East facing Sub Shrine of Naaga Devatha and a South facing Sub Shrine of Sri Chandikeshwarar. The Navagraha Sannadhi is seen at one end of the peipheral and looks impressive. The Sthala Viruksham of this Temple is a Naaval Maram. This Temple has a huge Pushkarani. There is a Temple Office functioning within the Temple premises. The Temple has a Madapalli or Temple Kitchen and a Sacred Well. Since the Kumbabishekam of the Temple has been done 14.07.2025 it looks meticulously clean. It is noteworthy to mention the humane and humble nature of the Gurukkals Messrs.Shivakumar and Prem who explain the finer details of the Temple to the Devotees and for the way they conduct the Pooja. Thei Pirai Ashtami, Valar Pirai Ashtami, Vinayagar Chathurthi, Aippasi Annabishegam, Arudhra Dharisanam, Masi Magam, Pradhosham, Navarathri are some of the festivals are celebrated in a grand manner. Similar to the Thiruvanaikaval Temple this Temple too is considered as a Pancha Bootha Sthalam.
