Sri Vazhitthunai Vinayagar Temple is located in Venkatraman Nagar near the Bus Stand in Korattur, Chennai. It is located in a residential locality of Korattur and it is sponsored by the Korattur Bus Stand Automen Union. This Vazhithunai Vinayagar Temple does not have a Rajagopuram or a Dwajasthambam but on the other hand it gains a lot of popularity since it is located close to Korattur Bus Terminus. Many people who opt to travel by bus make it a point to come and Pray here. This is a small Temple with dual entrances. The North facing entrance is the prime entrance while there is another East facing entrance. Atop the Gopuram of the Northern entrance there are Idols of Ganapathy and Valli Devasena Samedha Subramaniyar. The Gopuram on top of the Eastern entrance has a coloured Idol of an Amman in a standing posture. The Gopuram on the Western side has a coloured Idol of Swamy Iyyappan in a seated posture. The Presiding Deity of the Temple is Sri Vazhithunai Vinayagar who is seen in the Sanctum Sanctorum facing North. The latest Presiding Deity of Vazhithunai Vinayagar is seen in a seated posture North facing. He is the bigger of the two Vinayagars found in the Sanctum Sanctorum. The initial Presiding Deity is kept on a Lotus podium beneath the new Presiding Deity. In other words there are two Presiding Deities of Sri Vazhithunai Vinayagar within the same Sanctum Sanctorum. Facing the Moolasthanam is a small Neivedhya Peedam or Bali Peedam along with a Moonjur Vaahanam.

While circumambulating the inner peripheral there is an East facing Sub Shrine in which Sri Kalyana Durgai is seen in a standing posture. There is a general belief that She would bestow Her Blessings to those who are unmarried and such Devotees would get married soon. There is a North facing Sub Shrine in which Sri Subramaniyar is seen standing together and flanked by His Consorts Valli and Devasena. His Idol is exquisite and eye appealing to the Devotees seeing Him. There is an East facing Sub Shrine of Sri Iyyappa Swamy who is seen in a seated posture. The Temple has a Navagraha Sannadhi atop an elevated podium. Considering the lack of space the Temple authorities have drawn gorgeous paintings even on the ceiling of the Temple looking it more attractive. There is a small Madapalli in one corner of the Temple for all Divine Rituals.

This Vazhitthunai Vinayagar Temple was started in the year 1993 with a humble beginning and the construction was completed in the year 1995. This Vazhithunai Vinayagar Temple has undergone 3 Kumbabishekams. The first Kumbabishekam was peformed in the year 1995 the second Kumbabishekam was performed in the year 2008 and the 3rd Kumbabishekam was peformed in the year 2024. Vinayagar Chathurthi and the Tamil Month of Karthigai, Aadi, Shasti and Kiruthigai are celebrated in a grand manner.

The Automen of this Auto Stand in Korattur and more particularly Thulasingam have to be complimented for their Spirituality and combined efforts in bringing this Temple to this level.
