This Temple is also known as Kaattu Narasimha Perumal Temple and is located in Srirangam just 200 yards away from the Railway Station. Some refer this Temple as Ekaanthanthaaman which implies Calm and Quiet. The Kshetram is surrounded River Kaveri on the South and River Coleroon on the North making it an island technically. The Temple dates back to more than thousand years and is much older than the Srirangam. It is believed that this Temple was built in the 9th century by King Vallabha Pandiyan who was a very big Devotee of Periyaalwar. Lord Narasimhar is seen in a seated posture facing West with Goddess Lakshmi on His lap. In the earlier days people feared to go near the Temple fearing animal menace that was rampant in those days. Every year the Utsava Deity, Namperumal of the Sri Rangam Temple comes here on a Procession in a Palanquin. There is a separate Sub Shrine for Lord Garuda. The Idol of Lakshmi Narasimha Swami is considered to be Self Manifested and there are no inscriptions relating to the construction of this Temple. It is very strange that this Temple has not been mentioned in Naalayira Dhivya Prabhandam and hence not classified as a Dhivya Desam. Anyhow this Temple is renowned and considered as a Abhimana Sthalam. Narasimha Jayanthi is celebrated in a grand manner.
