This is one of the Largest Mosque of Chennai. This Mosque is also known as Wallajah Mosque. Muhammad Ali Khan Wallajah had a very big hand in building this Mosque. This Mosque was constructed in the Year 1765. The entire Mosque Complex is constructed using Granite but without iron and wood. This Mosque is built by following the Mughal Architectural Style. This Mosque is well maintained and kept Meticulously clean by Prince of Arcot Endowments Trust. This Mosque is so unique, since most of the Administrative Staff Members of the Mosque are Hindus. This Mosque has two Tall Minarets. There are Mausoleums to the west of the Sanctum for the important members of The Royal Family. This Mosque has a large Prayer Hall, a well maintained Tank and a huge Ground in front of the Mosque Complex. A Chronogram written in Persian by Raja Makhhan Lal Bahadur Khirat, the Hindu Munshi of the Nawab, is found on the entrance to the Prayer Hall.
