Kumizhi is a small village close to Guduvancheri. Sri Vedagreeswarar Temple is actually located slightly away from Kumizhi. Sri Vedhagreeswarar is situated amidst a forest background surrounded by a few small hillocks. It is believed that the Temple was built by the Pallava Rulers 900 years before with the latest Maha Kumbabishekam performed in June 2012. This is an East facing Temple with a huge 18 feet coloured Vinayagar Idol at the entrance. At the base of this stucco Vinayagar Idol the following Idols of Valmpuri Vinayagar, Idampuri Vinayagar, Panchamukha Vinayagar and Narthana Vinayagar are seen. The Temple does not have a conventional Rajagopuram. Instead there is a Neivedhya Peedam or Bali Peedam and a Nandhi Vaahanam beneath a four pillared Mandapam facing the Moolasthanam. At the doorsteps of the Moolasthanam two Idols of Dwara Baalakas are seen and they are considered to guard the Moolasthanam. In the East facing Sanctum Sanctorum the Presiding Deity of Sri Vedagirishwarar is seen in the form a Shiva Lingam. It is widely believed that those who come and Pray would be relieved of all their ailments and would prosper in life thereafter. Around the Koshtam of the Moolasthanam there are Idols of Vinayagar, Guru Dhakshinamoorthy, Lingothbhavar, Brahmma and Durgai. The Consort of this Temple is Sri Thiripurasundari who is an incarnation of Goddess Parvathy.

There is a Sub Shrine of Sri Srinivasa Perumal who is flanked on either side by Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi. Facing Sri Srinivasa Perumal is the Sub Shrine of Sri Garudalwar. Apart from this there are Sub Shrines for Bhairavar, Chandran, Suryan, Ashtabhuja Durgai, Lakshmi, Ganapathy, Iyyappan and Valli Devasena Samedha Subramaniyar. The Anthill of this Temple is revered. There are Idols of 18 Siddhars who are as follows: Idaikaadar, Sattainathar, Konganar, Pathanjali, Kuthambai Siddhar, Paambaati Siddhar, Sundranandar, Karuvuraar and Vaanmeegar. Dhanvanthri, Korakkar, Kamalamuni, Machamuni, Thirumoolar, Ramadevar, Agasthiyar, Bhogar and Sivavaakiya Siddhar. There is also a Sub Shrine for Sapthamathas or Saptha Kannikaigal in which the Idols of Brahmmi, Maheswari, Goumaari, Vaishnavi, Vaarahi, Indrani and Chamundi are seen. Vinayagar Chathurthi, Aippasi Annabishegam, Arudhra Dharisanam, Masi Magam, Pradhosham, Navarathri, Maha Shivarathiri are some of the festivals are celebrated in a grand manner.
