This Temple is located in a village called Avathanapatti which is on the main road between Krishnagiri and Kaveripatinam. This Temple is just a few Kilometers away from Krishnagiri Town. The place where the Temple is situated is so attractive to anyone passing this area since at the backdrop there is a hill and the Krishnagiri Boat House which is a waterbody is seen very close to the Temple. It is a private Temple under Trustee Thirupathi Gounder. The Presiding Deity is Sri Mariamman and She occupies the Sanctum Sanctorum of this Temple. In the Sanctum Sanctorum the Swayambhu Mariamman is placed at the floor level and on top of it is an altar on which the Metallic Idol of Mariamman is placed and worshipped. A toy wooden cradle is hung there. New Born Kids and Children are placed on the lap of Sri Mariamman to get Her Blessings. It is believed that this Temple is around 450 years old and that it has recently been renovated and built to this level under its Trustee along with the help of several villagers. It is believed that centuries ago this Amman was found as a Swayambhu by children playing and wandering in and around this area. The Temple is just beneath the Byepass Road and Devotees have to take a few steps since the entire Temple complex is located around 5 feet below the road level. It has a compound wall fitted with an iron gate. The images and Idols placed atop the Temple is visible even from the roadside and these Idols are gorgeously painted. Many villagers in and around Krishnagiri have great respect and regards for this Mariamman and many consider this Temple as their Kula Deiva Kovil. Next to the Sanctum Sanctorum is an Arasa Maram and there are Idols of Naga Devathas before it and Spears and Tridents are placed before it and Prayed. An Amman Idol and Silver Pillayar Idol are seen there. Childless Couple visit here and tie a toy wooden cradle in the Arasa Maram and it is believed that these couple will soon bear a kid for themselves with the Blessings of this Goddess. Next to this place is the Sub Shrine for Goddess Kaliamman. A Thulabaaram or a Weighing Scale is kept in this Temple and Devotees offer various items equivalent to their or their kid’s weight as an offering to this Goddess. Since this Mariamman Temple is located very close to the National Highway it attracts the Drivers and Passengers of any vehicles. Therefore most of the lorry drivers come here with their vehicle and pray before Her Almighty. Likewise Devotees buying new cars or two wheelers bring them to this Temple for the first Pooja. The Presiding Deity is most feared and revered and this makes most of the Devotees come to Her repeatedly since Goddess Mariamman never lets down Her Devotees at any point of time in their life. On special occasions and when a Devotee wishes to, Goats and Poultry are sacrificed before Her. Annadhanam is done to all Devotees visiting this Temple and free prasadam is distributed to everyone. Aadi 18, Aadi Month, Full Moon & New Moon days, Navarathri are some of the important days celebrated in this Temple. Since the Temple is located close to the main road it is fully covered by CCTV.
