This Temple is located in a village called Avathanapatti which is on the main road between Krishnagiri and Kaveripatinam. This Temple is just a few Kilometers away from Krishnagiri Town. In the Sanctum Sanctorum the Swayambhu Mariamman is placed at the floor level and on top of it is an altar on which the Metallic Idol of Mariamman is placed and worshipped. A toy wooden cradle is hung there. New Born Kids and Children are placed on the lap of Sri Mariamman to get Her Blessings. It is believed that this Temple is around 450 years old and that it has recently been renovated and built to this level under its Trustee along with the help of several villagers. It is believed that centuries ago this Amman was found as a Swayambhu by children playing and wandering in and around this area. The Temple is just beneath the Byepass Road and Devotees have to take a few steps since the entire Temple complex is located around 5 feet below the road level. It has a compound wall fitted with an iron gate. The images and Idols placed atop the Temple is visible even from the roadside and these Idols are gorgeously painted. Many villagers in and around Krishnagiri have great respect and regards for this Mariamman and many consider this Temple as their Kula Deiva Kovil.
