Omampuliyur is a village located in Kaatumannarkoil Taluk of Cuddalore District. Saint Thirunavukarasar says that since many Poojas or Homams are done here in a continuous manner this place has derived that name Omampuliyur. Sri Thuyartheertha Nathar Temple or Sri Pranava Viyakrapureeswarar Temple is situated in Omampuliyur. This is an East facing Temple with a three tiered Rajagopuram. This Temple is highly praised in Thevara Hymns and is one of the famous Thevara Paadal Petra Sthalam. There is a Welcome Arch on the road for this Temple. This Welcome Arch contains the Stucco Odols of Shivan, Parvathy, Rishaba Aroodar, Ganapathy and Murugan. There is a Dwajasthambam or Kodi Maram, a Neivedhya Peedam or Bali Peedam and a Nandhi Vahanam facing the Moolasthanam. The Preisiding Dieity of this Temple is Lord Shiva who is known here as Sri Thuyar Theertha Nathar or Sri Pranava Vyagrapureeswarar.This Temple has been built on the Banks of River Cauvery. In the East facing Moolasthanam Sri Vyakrapureeswarar or Thuyartheertha Nathar is seen East facing and in the form of a Shiva Lingam. The Shiva Lingam in the Sanctum Sanctorum is slightly taller than those of other Temples and has been mounted on a Square Avudaiyar. The Temple has a unique practice of having the first Abishekam done to Dhakshnamoorthy and then to the Moolavar Sri Vyakrapureeswarar. Hence it is known as Gurumurthi Sthalam. Around the Moolavar Koshtam are the Idols of Sri Vinayagar, Dakshinamurthy, Lingothbavar, Brahma and Vishnu Durgai.The Ambal of this Temple is known as Sri Pushpa Lalithambigai or Sri Poongodinayaki and She is seen in a standing posture in Her Shrine. There is a Sub Shrine for Sri Natarajar in which Sivagambigai Ambal is also seen and its called as Natarajar Sabhai. The other Sub Shrines of this Temple are those of Vinayagar, Pathralingeswarar with Parvati, Subramaniyar, Natarajar, Aiyappan, Anjaneyar, Gajalakshmi, Saraswati, Chandikeswarar. Shaniswara, Nalvar, Suryan, Nagars, Vyagrapadar and Hanuman. The Sthala Vruksham of this Temple is an Ilanthai Maram. The sacred Tank or Pushkarani is known as Gowri Theertham. The Temple tank is said to be very sacred. Once King Sadhanandhan who was a great Shiva Devotee and who was afflicted with leprosy took bath here and got rid of his Leprosy Disease. Festivals like Poosam Masi Magam, Navarathri and Shivarathri are celebrated in a grand manner here. Huge number of devotees from far and near gather here that time.
