The Temple is in Thirupathiripuliyur or Thirupapuliyur close to Cuddalore Town. The Presiding Deity is Padaleeswarar who is an incarnation of Lord Shiva. The Consort of Padaleeswarar is known as Goddess Periyanayaki who is seen to Bless from a separate Shrine. Appar, Sundarar, Sambandar and Manickavasagar have all sung in praise of this Temple. An illuminated exhibition finds a place in the Praharam. It is one among the Paadal Petra Sthalam. The Temple is more than 2000 years old and is of Dravidian Architecture. Thirupathiripuliyur derives its name from the Sthala Viruksham of the Temple which is a Pathiri Tree. There are Shrines for Vinayagar, Murugan, Lingothbhavar, Dhakshinamurthy, Durgai and Chandikeshwarar etc. Nag Devthas are placed just beneath the Sthala Viruksham or the Pathiri Tree. Arunthavanayagi is placed just beneath the Sthala Viruksham. Pradhosham, Chithirai Vasanthothsavam and Shivarathiri attracts lots of Devotees here. There is a Vasantha Mandapam and a Temple Library too. The Temple maintains a huge Ghoshala. The Temple Tank is located outside the Temple and is called as Sivakara Theertham.
