Thiruchopuram is a village located close to Cuddalore. Sri Managalpureeswarar Temple in Thiruchopuram is one of the Thevara Paadal Petra Sthalam. The Presiding Deity here is known as Sri Mangalapureeswarar or Sri Thiruchopuranathar. His Consort here is known as Sri Thiyagavalli Ambal or Sri Velnedinganni Ambal or Sri Sathyakshi Ambal. The early Chola Rulers built this Temple and Kulothunga Cholan III evinced keen interest on this Temple since his wife's name was also Thiyagavalli resembling the Consort of the Temple.

This is a West facing Temple and there is a Welcome Arch leading to the Temple. The Temple does not have a Rajagopuram like other big Temples. There is a Dwajasthambam or Kodi Maram, a Neivedhya Peedam or Bali Peedam and a Nandhi Vaahanam outside the Temple premises and looking towards the Moolasthanam. In the Sanctum Sanctorum Sri Mangalapureeshwarar who is the Presiding Deity is seen West facing and in the form of a Shiva Lingam. He is considered as an incarnation of God Shiva. Around the Koshtam of the Moolavar Sannadhi are the Idols of Vinayagar, Dhakshinamoorthy, Lingothbhavar, Brahmma and Durgai. There is a Shrine for Sri Thiyagavalli Ambal who is seen in Her South facing Shrine and in a standing posture. The Temple's peripheral areas has Sub Shrines of Valli Devasena Samedha Subramaniyar, Ganapathy, Gajalakshmi, Veerateshwara Lingam, Kannappar and Shivalingams Worshipped by Thiribhuvana Chakravarthy and his wife. Apart from these there are Sub Shrines for Bhairavar, Suryan, 63  Naayanmaars, Somaskandar, Sivagami Ambal Samedha Sri Natarajar etc. The Temple also has a Navagraha enclosure. 

The Temple that was built in the earlier times was fully covered by sand dunes and later Sri Ramalinga Sivayogi of Madurai renovated this Temple to a great extent. Some Devotees mention this Temple as Thambiran Kanda Kovil. It is important to mention this Temple was frequented by Sage Kagabujanda Maharishi and Worshipped. Likewise another important aspect of this Temple is that Sri Dhakshinamoorthy is clad in White clothing instead of the yellow clothing done in other Temples. Many say that on a physical tapping of Sri Dhakshinamoorthy's Idol brings out diffeent musical notes. There is a belief that Sage Agasthiyar had installed the Shiva Lingam here. It is also pertinent to mention that instead of the usual and Vibhuthi and Kumkum, Turmeric is also added and given to all Devotees. Pradosham, Maha Shivarathri, Thiru Karthikai, Aippasi Annabhishekam, Panguni Uthiram are celebrated in a grand manner.
