Aragalur is a small village in Thalaivasal Taluk of Salem District. The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Sei Kamanadeshwarar who is an incarnation of God Shiva. He Blesses His Devotees along with His Consort Sri Periyanayagi. Kasi or Varanasi is the only place famous for Ashta Bhairavar but it is practically difficult for Devotees from South to visit Kasi often. Hence visiting this Temple in Aragalur is considered as visiting Kasi and Praying before Ashta Bhairavar there. Ashta means eight and we can see eight incarnations of Bhairavar here namely Kaala Bhairavar, Asitanga Bhairavar, Samhara Bhairavar, Ruru Bhairavar, Krothana Bhairavar, Kapala Bhairavar, Rudra Bhairavar and Unmatha Bhairavar. This Temple has a three tiered Rajagopuram, and two Mandapams can be seen on the either side of Rajagopuram. There is a Dwajastambam and a Neivedhiya Peedam or Bali Peedam. One of the interesting fact of this Temple is that during Panguni Uthiram festival on Pooram Nakshtra Day Sun Rays will fall on Shiva's Face. It is believed that Manmadhan or Kaman worshipped Sri Shiva here in this Temple and hence the name Kamanada Eswarar. The incriptions of this Temple states the Donations were given to this Temple by  Kings of Chola, Pandya, Vanakovaraiyas.
