This Temple is widely known in and around Mettur Dam area as Thangamalai Murugan Kovil. This Murugan Temple is located on a small hillock close to the residential locality known as Thangamapuripatinam which is just 2 Kms away from Mettur Dam Railway Station. Murugan is seen along with Valli and Devasena in the Sanctum Sanctorum. The Presiding Deity, Sri Murugan is considered omnipotent in many ways and He never lets down His Devotees who come here with a specific request and Pray before Him. it is said that any such genuine requests and wishes of the Devotees are fulfilled sooner than later. There are Sub Shrines for few other Gods too along the peripheral of the Temple. Devotees coming to this Temple have to climb and reach the Temple by footsteps alone since they have not laid any motorable ghat road to reach the Temple premises. Since Mettur Dam is an industrial town and since the Temple is located in a residential locality there is a steady flow of Industrial workers and Devotees who keep coming to this Temple regularly. Thai Poosam, Kandha Shasti, Thiru Karthigai are celebrated in a grand manner.
