Aragalur is a small village in Thalaivasal Taluk of Salem District. The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Sei Kamanadeshwarar who is an incarnation of God Shiva. He Blesses His Devotees along with His Consort Sri Periyanayagi. Sri Kamantha Easwarar Temple is an East facing Temple with a 3 tiered Rajagopuram. Initially the Temple has a Welcome Arch like structure with a Gopuram containing coloured Idols of Sri Kaala Bhairavar, Sri Asitanga Bhairavar, Sri Samhara Bhairavar, Sri Ruru Bhairavar, Sri Krothana Bhairavar, Sri Kapala Bhairavar, Sri Rudra Bhairavar and Sri Unmatha Bhairavar. Kasi or Varanasi is the only place famous for Ashta Bhairavar but it is practically difficult for Devotees from South to visit Kasi often. Hence visiting this Temple in Aragalur is considered as visiting Kasi and Praying before Ashta Bhairavar there in Kasi. 

This Temple has Dwajasthambham or Kodi Maram, a Neivedhiya Peedam or Bali Peedam and a Nandhi Vaahanam looking towards the Moolasthanam.The Presiding deity here is Sri Kamantha Easwarar who is seen in the Sanctum Sanctorum as an East facing Shiva Lingam who is replendent and is considered Omnipotent. His Consort here is known as Sri Periyananagi  Ambal and She is seen in Her Shrine in a standing posture Blessing Her Devotees. This Temple gains added significance since it is believed that Sage Vasishta had come to this Temple and Prayed before God Shiva here. It is said that on the day of Panguni Uthiram the Sun Rays falls on the Presiding Deity.  It is believed that Manmadhan or Kaman worshipped Sri Shiva here in this Temple and hence the name Kamanada Eswarar. The incriptions of this Temple states the Donations were given to this Temple by  Kings of Chola, Pandya, Vanakovaraiyas.
