Sri Venkatachalapathi Temple is located in 6th Cross Brindavan Road in Fairlands, Salem. In recent days many locals here have started referring this as Salem Tirupathi Temple for the only reason that this Temple is dedicated to Venkatachalapathy as in Tirupati, Andhra. The Temple does not have a conventional Rajagopuram or a Dwajasthambam like other Vaishnava Temples. It is deciphered that the authorities have made this Temple from a residential complex. The Temple is East facing and a small entrance. There are two Yaalis made out of stone and placed near the steps. Beyond it is a tiled flooring and the gateway here is painted in golden colour to give an appealing look to the Devotees. There are two colourful Dwara Baalakas Idols and they look very impressive. A pair of Divine Feet in Golden colour is placed on an elevated podium. The ceiling of the Gopuram is painted in an attractive golden colour. On the exterior several Idols of Maha Vishnu, Shiva, Brahmma, Vinayaka, Suga Brahmma Rishi etc have been placed either on top of the Temple or on the walls of the Temple. The most appealing factor of this Temple is that they have designed and displayed all the Dasavatharam Idols on the top anterior of the Temple making it look so eye captivating. Devotees have to climb a few steps to reach the Shrine of Garudalwar. In the next two Shrines at the centre is the Presiding Deity of Sri Venkatachalapathi Perumal and His Consort Alarmel Mangai Thaayar. There are two black coloured Dwara Baalaki Idols at the threshold of the Moolasthanam where Sri Venkatachalapathy could be seen. In the last Sub Shrine Lord Hanuman or Anjaneya Swamy could be seen. Though located in a cramped and congested locality the authorities have made the Temple look very appealing to the eyes of the Devotees. There is a public address system which goes on repeatedly with a blaring sound warning the Devotees, Not to use their Mobile Phones or Cameras. In reality No Devotee ever attempts to take out his / her Mobile within the Temple. As a matter of fact, it is the Temple staff at the sales counter selling Ghee / Thulasi and the Purohit who are the only two people to freely use the Mobile quite often than not. Since it is a very modern Temple visitors and Tourists coming to Salem make it a point to visit the Temple. The Temple does not have any car parking space. Sri Rama Navami, Krishna Jayanthi, Hanumath Jayanthi are some of the festivals celebrated in a grand manner.
