Some refer this Temple as Perumthatta Shiva Temple. It is one among the 108 Shiva Kshethrams in Kerala. The Temple is located on the main road in the outskirts of Guruvayur and is East facing. The Temple displays its name board on the main road but the actual Temple is located on the inner side. They have erected a tin sheet roofing all along the path leading from the entrance to the main Temple. Two huge Images of Lord Nataraja in golden colour are displayed on either side of the Temple. Close to it is a beautifully drawn coloured Image of Lord Shiva. It is believed that Sage Parasurama had installed the Deity of Lord Shiva here during the Thritha Yuga. This Temple was very famous during the earlier times but it was Tippu Sultan and his men who looted this Temple and destroyed its ancient belongings. At that time many loyal Devotees managed to take the Idol to Ambalapuzha and brought it back safely to instal it here after several years. Even the Military Cannons of Tippu Sultan which was used to destroy this Temple was excavated several years later and kept safely. The actual Temple premises is quite big with the main Temple built in a 2 acre land. The Presiding Deity is Sri Mahadeva or Shiva who is East facing. He looks resplendent in the glow of the naturally lit oil lamps. It is considered that it is a Swayambhu Shiva Lingam which means that it is Self Manifested to boost the sanctity of this Temple. The Holy Ash or the Vibhuthi given to the Devotees is believed to have miraculous health benefits to cure the Devotees in case they have any disease. In the inner peripherals there are Sub Shrines for Vinayagar, Guruvayurappan, Murugan, and Devi. There are Sub Shrines for Maha Vishnu, Durga, Iyyappan, Naga Devathas and Brahmma Rakshasa. The Temple have just initiated an Annadhanam scheme for which willing Devotees could contact the below mentioned phone numbers. There is ample car parking space.
