Thiruvenkatachalapathi Temple is situated in Thiruvenkidam Desam which is 1KM  further away from the Guruvayurappan Temple. This is a West facing Temple but the Venkatachalapathy Perumal faces East within the Temple. In earlier times this Temple was considered at par with the Balaji Temple at Tirupati. More than 1000 years ago elders viewed this place and brought an Idol of Thiruvenkatachalapathy from Tirupathi and installed it here. Later it is alleged that the Moghuls could have had a hand in destroying the head portion and the right hand of the Idol. Then another search committee under a Namboodri or Thantri was formed and the present idol was installed in the year 1974. There are two gold coloured Dwara Baalakas on either side of the main entrance of the Temple. On entering the Temple there is a place called Paatu Pandhal. Facing the Moolasthanam is a Dwajasthambam and a Bali Peedam. The Presiding Deity of Sri Thiruvenkitachalapathy looks majestic and resplendent. The footsteps leading to the Sanctum Sanctorum and the entire threshold is gold plated and is a feast to the eyes of any Devotee. This Temple is unique since it gives equal importance to the Idol of Bagawathy Amman which is found in another Shrine of the same Temple. There are Sub Shrines for Gods and Goddesses like Ganapathy, Saraswathy, Ayyappan, Nagaraja and Brahmarakshasa. There is another Shrine built for the original founder who is none other than Ramanujachariar. All the Sub Shrines have an Idol but the Saraswathy Sub Shrine has an Image of the Goddess. It has a Temple Office called Thiruvenkitachalapathy Kshethra Samithi functioning within the Temple. The Temple has a payment for different Sevas and Poojas. The Temple has facilities for Weddings and Thulabaaram too is made available for the Devotees. Annadhanam is being done on every Tuesdays and Saturdays. They have a TTD Kalyana Mandapam just before the Temple where Marriages are performed. There is ample car parking space. Festivals like Makara Chevva, Annual Brahmmothsavam, Navarathri and Pongal are celebrated in a grand manner. During these festive days there is a tumultuous gathering of Devotees.
