This Church is located in Big Bazar Street in the heart of Kovai City.  St. Michael's Cathedral has come into existence from 1855 onwards. This is a Roman Catholic Church. Three Bells were brought from France and the musical harmony of these bells still enthralls us.  A life size painting of Saint Martin which was existing till 1968 was eaten away by white ants and destroyed completely.  Bishop Depommier who was associated very closely with this Church died on 8/12/1873 at Nagapattinam and his mortal remains were dug up from Nagapattinam and brought here to Coimbatore and relaid to rest.  In 1954 His Eminence Cardinal Valerian Gracias visited here for the first time.  Many Christian families perform their family wedding here according to their tradition.  This Curch is built on a sprawling campus. There are two spires in this main Church Complex and a life size Statue of Jesus can be seen at the mid point of this roof.  This Church complex is built on a high raised platorm and people have to climb nearly 50 steps to reach the entrance of the Prayer Hall. The windows are decorated using stained glasses. The Seating arrangement is beautifully done for the Worshippers to perform their Prayer peacefully.  There is a Welcome Arch at the entrance of this Church. Inside the Church complex a Statue of Lord Jesus can be seen crucified. There are murals on the walls of this Church which depicts the various life history of Jesus.
