Madras Kali Bari Temple is located in Umapathy Street Extension in West Mambalam and the area surrounding this Temple is mostly a residential locality. This is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Maa Kali and built similar to Dakhshineshwar Kali Temple near Kolkata in West Bengal. The Presiding Deity here is called Goddess Bhavatharini. The foundation stone for this was laid on 21st June 1975. It was formally inaguarated and kept open for Devotees from 3rd February 1981. The Madras Kali Bari Temple was built  with the able support of the Bengali Community located in Chennai. Bhajans are sung Daily in the Meditation Hall. Chandi Homam performed on New Moon Days is a feature here. There are Shrines for Sarada Devi and Guru Maharaj too. Here all willing Devotees are allowed to perform Abhishekam by themselves. Navarathiri, Maha Shivrathiri, Kali Homam are performed in a grand manner.  Annadhanam to Devotees is done on a daily basis. A Temple Kitchen and a Library too function from their premises. The authorities of the Temple have to be lauded for conducting regular Eye and other Medical Camps.
