Gowrivakkam is situated close to Rajakilpakkam and Sembakkam. Sri Panchamuga Anjaneyar Temple is located in Gowrivakkam which is a Southern Suburb of Chennai. The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Sri Hanuman and He has five different faces and hence the name Panchamukha Anjaneyar. The five Heads of Sri Hanuman are as follows 1) Sri Hanuman, 2) Sri Garudan, 3) Sri Hayagreevar, 4) Sri Varahar and 5) Sri Narasimhar. In other Panchamuga Anjaneya Temples Sri Narashimar and Hayagreevar faces can be seen on the back and on the top of the Idol but here all the five faces are facing forward. This Temple is disparate from the other Panchamugha Hanuman Temple since the Presiding Deity of Sri Panchamugha Hanuman has 10 Handa holding 10 different weapons. There is a small Utsava Moorthy of Panjamuka Hanuman which can be seen inside the Sanctum Sanctorum. There are Sub Shrines for Sri Chakrathalwar and Sri Varasiddhi Vinayakar. Sri Rama is seen along with His Consort Seetha and Brother Lakshmana. There is a Urchavamoorthy of Sri Subramaniya along with His Consorts Valli and Devasena. Hanumath Jayanthi, Sri Rama Navami are celebrated in a grand manner.
