Eluppaipattu is a small village near Manalmedu in Mayavaram District. The village got its name since it was infested with a lot of Iluppai trees in ancient times. This famous Temple is situated on the banks of River Manniyaru which is also called as River Subbramanya. It is believed that the Panja Pandavas namely Dharmar, Bheema, Arjuna, Nakula and Sahadeva visited this Temple and worshipped the 5 Sivalingams Neelakandeswara, Magadheeswara, Padikarai Nadhar, Parameshwarar and Mukthiswarar.

Though  many say that all the 5 Shiva Lingams are considered as the Main Deities, It is the Neelakandeshwarar who gains prominence over the rest and is considered as the Presiding Deity. His Consort here is Goddess Amudhakara Valli This Temple is considered to be one of the Paadal Petra Sthalam that is dedicated to God Shiva. Some Devotees believe that God Brahmma is also considered as God Shiva here. On examining the inscriptions available in this Temple it is evident that King Raja Raja Cholan and certain other Vijayanagara Kings had a great hand in developing this Temple to this extent. The Temple is not under the control of the Tamil Nadu Govt. It is being taken care and under the control of Thiruvaavaduthurai Adheenam. This place is also  known as Tirumannippadikkarai. Festivals like Chithirai Brahmmotsavam, Shivarathri and Thirukarthikai are celebrated in a grand manner. The Temple is famous to cure all Illness and for Job opportunities. Married women Pray here for their Husband's Life longevity.
