The Temple is located in Idumbavanam in Tiruvarur District.  The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Sargunanathar who is an incarnation of Lord Shiva. He Blesses His Devotees along with His Consort Mangalanayaki. This Temple is considered as the 108th Shiva Temple that is located on the Southern Banks of River Cauvery. Lord Shiva can be seen as a Self Manifested or Swayambu Lingam.  The Presiding Deity of this Temple is also known as Sarguneswarar, Namakola Nathar, Kalyaneswarar and  Idumbavaneswarar.  His Consort also has different names like Mangalavalli and Kalyaneswari. This Temple is considered as the 225th Thevaram Paadal Petra Sthalam. The Temple has a three tiered Rajagopuram and the entire Temple complex is surrounded by high granite walls. There are Sub Shrines for Gods and Goddess like Vinayaka, Muruga, Bhairava, Lingodhbava, Nataraja, Sun, Moon and Sani Bhagawan. Idols of Goddess Gajalakshmi and Lord Dakshinamoorthy  can be seen in this Temple. Vaikasi Visakam is celebrated in a grand manner in this Temple
