The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Chaturanga Vallabhanathar and He is an incarnation of Lord Shiva. He Blesses His Devotees along with His Consorts Rajarajeswari and Karpagavalli Ambal. This Temple is considered to be one of the 276 Padal Petra Sthalam and is the 103rd Padal Petra Temple on the Southern Bank of River Kaveri. It is believed that the Devotees who are suffering with Asthma will be reileived here. Worshipping to Goddess Chamundeeswari Ambal here will remove all impediments of Marriage, Business Issue and also give to Give Child Boon. Devotees who  suffer from Rat or other Poisonous bites visit this Temple and tie a root on their hands and take a Holy Dip in this Temple's Sacred Tank. This is the Second Temple in South India next to Mysore where Goddess Chamundeeswari can be seen. The Presiding Deity is a Self Manifested Swayambu Lingam here. It is believed that Lord Vishnu, Brahma, Vinayaka, Muruga and Indhra visited this Temple to worship Lord Shiva. Ten Day Chithirai Chamundeeswari festival, Vaikasi Visakam, Avani Moolam, Aadi Pooram, Aipasi Annabhishekam, Karthikai Deepam, Margazhi Thiruvadhirai, Thai Poosam, Maha Shivarathri is celebrated in a  grand manner here.
