This is one of the most notable Rama Temples in Tamil Nadu and had been glorified sky-high by Saint Vaalmikhi. The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Lord Ramar who is East facing here. He is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. THis is the place of Bharadhwaja Maharishi and it is believed that Lord Rama, after vanquishing and defeating Ravana had come to Thillaivilagam and had stayed here overnight at the place of Sage Bharathwajar. This Temple is the first Pancha Rama Kshetram and one among the 108 Abhimana Kshethram. It is located in Thillaivilagam in Tiruvarur District. Sri Veera Kothandaramar Temple is considered to be one of the 29 Abhimana Sthalams that is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The Temple is unique since the Moolavar here is made out of Panchaloga Metal. Lord Rama Blesses His Devotees along with His Consort Seetha, Brother Lakshmana and Lord Hanuman. Lord Anjaneyar is of four feet height and in a standing posture, is the speciality of the Temple. We can even see the Vein running on Lord Rama's feet. Also the Arrow end looks totally different from those of others. There is a Shrine for Lord Garudalwar opposite the Sanctum Sanctroum. This Temple also has a Sub Shrine for Lord Natarajar and this is very unique and this is the reason for the place getting its name as Thillai Vilagam. The Temple has 3 Pushkaranis namely Sri Rama Pushkarani, Seetha Pushkarani and Hanuman Pushkarani. Sri Rama Navami and Hanumath Jayanthi are celebrated in a grand manner every year.
