Sri Santhana Ramaswami Temple is located in Needamangalam in Thiruvarur District. Needamangalam was earlier called as Neeradu Mangalam since King Sarfoji with his Queen Yamuna Bhai use to bathe in Saketha Theertham in those days. The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Sri Santhana Ramaswami who is Maha Vishnu Himself in a standing posture. He is seen in the Sanctum Sanctorum along with Mother Seetha and Brother Lakshmana. The Sanctum Sanctorum here is called as Thryanka Vimana Sanctum. This Temple is believed to have been built during the days of Maharaja Prathaba Simhan from 1739 - 1763. In fact the Maharaja constructed two Temples along with a Chowltary in his days. A Kodimaram or a Flag Staff along with a Neivedhya Peedam or Bali Peedam is built facing the Moolasthanam. Apart from the Moolasthanam of Sri Santhana Ramaswami there is a Vasantha Mandapam, a Frontal Mandapam and a Yaagasala. There are Sub Shrines for Alwars, Nigamantha Maha Desigar, Garudalwar and Hanuman. There are Sub Shrines for Mother Durga and Thumbikai Alwar on the Northern flank of the Temple. Sri Anjaneya Swamy has a separate Shrine too. This is an all important Temple for the Childless Couples. Those without Kids life the Santhana Gopala Vigraham alond with the Silver Cradle and it is believed that these Couple would be Blessed with a Kid very soon. Hence this Temple is considered as a Puthira Baakiya Parihaara Sthalam. The Theertham or Pushkarani of the Temple is Saketha Theertham and the Sthala Viruksham of this Temple is Chappathi Kalli. The most important festivals celebrated here are Sri Rama Navami, Aadi Pooram Theppothsavam, Avani Pavithrothsavam, Margazhi Adhiyana Uthsavam, Garuda Seva, Purattasi Navarathri, Hanumath Jayanthi and Vaikunda Ekadesi. During these days festive crowds from and near come her to seek the Blessings of Sri Santhana Ramaswami.
