Thirumeeyachur is a small village located in Nannilam Taluk in Thiruvarur District. Sri Lalithambigai or Sri Meghanathar Temple is located in Thirumeeyachur, Tiruvarur District. The Presiding Deity of this Temple is called by 3 names 1) Sri Meghanathaswami, 2) Sri Mahira Aruneswarar and 3) Sri Muyarchi Nathar and they are considered to be an incarnation of God Shiva.

This Temple has a majestic East facing five tiered Rajagopuram. Facing the Moolasthanam is a Neivedhya Peedam or a Bali Peedam, a Dwajasthambam or a Kodi Maram and a Nandhi Vaahnam beneath a four pillared Mandapam. Apart from the Main Gopuram there is another mini three tiered Rajagopuram. There are two coloured stucco Idols of Rishabharooda Dwara Baalakas. The Presiding Deity is a self manifested Swayambu Lingam. The Koshtam of the Moolasthanam has Idols of Sri Ksethra Bhuvaneshwarar, Vinayagar, Dhakshinamoorthy, Maha Vishnu, Brahmma, Durgai and Chandikeshwarar. Unusually the Vimanam of this Temple alone has been built in the Gajabrushtam style. The Sunrays falls of the Presiding Deity of 21st to 27th of Chithirai Month. He Blesses His Devotees along with His Consorts Goddess Lalithambikai or Sri Soundarya Nayaki. Sri Lalithambigai is seen seated on a Sri Chakara Raja Simhasanam. Though the Presiding Deity is Sri Shiva, His Consort Lalithambikai has more Power here. It is also noteworthy to mention that there is a huge gap near the Ankle on the both the legs of Goddess Lalithambikai. The gap seen near Her Ankles is to facilitate wearing of Anklets or Golusu. This Temple is considered to be of the the 276 Padal Petra Sthalam that is dedicated to God Shiva and 56th Temple on the Southern Banks of River Kaveri.

Most Devotees celebrate their 60 th and 80 th Birthday here in this Temple. Rathasapthami, Durga Pooja, Maha Shivarathri, Prodosham, Makara Sankaranthi are celebrated in a grand manner here in this Temple. There are several shops situated near the entry point of the Temple and a Temple Tank known as Surya Pushkarani is also located closeby. History says that this Temple was built centuries ago with just bricks but later Sembiyam Mahadevi rebuilt the entire structure using stones and this was done during the period of Raja Raja Cholan. Incidentally the Pandya Kings too had a big hand in promoting and developing the Temple.

Thirumeeyachur gains more prominence since it is considered as a Birth place of Sri Garudar who is the Official Vaahanam of Maha Vishnu. This is the place where Lalitha Sahasranamam was initially composed by Hayagreevar and taught to Sage Agasthiyar. It is also said that the Navarathina Maalai hymns was scripted and sung by Sage Agasthiyar here.
