The Presiding Deity here is called as Perum Pura Kadal. It is only the Urchavar who is known as Bakthavatsala Perumal and the Temple is named after the Urchavamoorthy. The Moolavar Thaayar is known as Kannamangai Nayagi whereas the Urchavamoorthy is known as Abhishekavalli Thaayar. It is a Rohini Nakshathra Parihaara Sthalam and is one of the famous 108 Divya Desam since it was revered by Saint Alwars in their Divya Prabhandham. It is therefore considered as a Divya Desam. There is a East facing Gopuram outside the Temple and on top of it are a few Divine Idols. There is a four pillared Mandapam bridging this Gopuram with the Sacred Tank or Pushkarani located on the opposite side. Facing the Moolasthanam is an Anjaneyar Shrine located on the banks of the Pushkarani. The earlier Cholas and the later Naayaks had contributed to this Temple in promoting to this level. There is a three tiered East facing Rajagopuram but this Rajagopuram is built slightly interior unlike other Temples where the Rajagopuram is seen in the forefront. Beyond the Rajagopuram is the Dwajasthambam, a Bali Peedam and a Pakshiraajan (Garudalwar) Sannadhi facing the Moolasthanam. The Moolasthanam is slightly elevated and Devotees may have to climb 8 to 10 steps. At this entrance are two Images of Garudalwar and Anjaneyar fixed to the walls and they look eye appealing. Closer to the Sanctum Sanctorum are a set of two attractive black Vigraha Dwara Balakaas and close to them is a Sangu and Chakaram. It is believed that Maha Vishnu had married Mahalakshmi here and hence the place is called as Sri Krishna Mangala Kshethram. During that time it is believed that all the Devars took the form of Bees and thronged the Temple to have a glimplse of the Celestial Marriage between Maha Vishnu and Mahalakshmi. Even today there are gaping holes in the Thaayar Shrine where Devotees could see scored of Bees entering and leaving the premises through the gaping hole. There are two sets of gaping hole for the Bees and one is used during Uthrayanam whereas the second is used during the Dakshnayanam. Around the Moolasthana Koshtam there are Idols for Lakshmi Narasimhar, Sri Vamanar, Sri Parasuramar, Sri Narasimhar, Sri Balaramar. Sri Ramar, Baktharavi Perumal, Venugopalan, Brahmma, Paramapathanathar, Gajendravaradhan, Saraswathi, Lakshmi Bhoovaragan and Sri Krishnan. There is a East facing Sub Shrine for aandal and a South facing Paramapatha Vaasal which would open on Vaikunda Ekadesi Days. There is a Isai Kudil and a South faing Ramar Sannadhi here. There are Sub Shrines for Nigamandha Maha Desigan, Manavala Maamunigal and Vishvaksenar. The Temple has a Madapalli and a Annadhana Koodam. Almost all the Shrines and Sub Shrines are gorgeously painted and the Temple staff and the Temple Purohits have to be appreciated for keeping the Temple meticulously clean. The Sthala Viruksham here is Magizha Maram and the Theertham here is known as Dharisana Pushkarani and it is one amongst the biggest Sacred Tanks of the State. The Temple is refered as Pancha Kanna Kshethram or Krishnaranya Kshethram.
