The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Lord Ramar who is the seventh Avathar of Lord Vishnu. He Blesses His Devotees along with His Consort Sita Devi and His brother Lakshmana. Lord Rama is known as Kothandaramaswamy. This Temple is known as Dakshina Ayodhya or Ayodhya of South India.This Temple is considered to be one of the Abhimana Sthalams of Lord Vishnu. The Temple's Presiding Deity is loved by one and all since it has a smile in the lips of Lord Rama which makes it look so much captivating. It is believed that this Temple was built by Raja Sirufoji of Thanjavur Maratha Kingdom. This Temple has Sub Shrines for Lords Hanuman, Hayagrivar, Viswaksenar, Saint Andal and other Alvars. There is a Shrine for Lord Krishna in the front Mandapam. Here Lord Krishna is known as Venugopalan and He is found along with His Consorts Rukmani and Satyabama. There is a Huge Sacred Tank which is named as Sarayu Theertham. This Temple has a huge Vimanam known as Pushpaka Vimanam.
