The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Lord Ramanathaeaswarar who is an incarnation of Lord Shiva. Since Lord Rama installed the Lingam of this Temple it is known by the name Ramanathaeeswarar. This is one of the Navagraha Sthalam in Thondai Mandalam that is dedicated to Guru Bhagavan. This Temple was built by King Kulothunga Chola II in 700 AD. The Sanctum Sanctorum is built by following Chola's Thoongaanai Maadam style. There are Sub Shrines for Lords Vinayagar, Dhakshinamurthy, Koshta Murthies, Nandhigeswarar and Chandikeshwarar. Like Vishnu Temples this Shivan Temple offers Theertham and Shadari to the Devotees visiting her. The Sthala Viruksham of this Temple is Neem Tree. Festivals like Maha Shivaratri, Navarathri, Karthigai Somavaram, Panguni Uthiram are celebrated in a grand manner. The Temple is located in a parallel street close to the busy Porur Junction.
