Sree Karpaka Vinayagar Temple is a very small Temple located in the busy Anna Street in Gerugambakkam on the outskirts of Chennai.  It is around 200 metres away from the busy Porur - Kundrathur Main Road.  Since the Temple is located in a T - Joint of Anna street it becomes all the more important and draws the attention of all passersby.  The Presiding Deity here is Karpaga Vinayagar, the eldest son of Lord Shiva.  Though this Temple is very small the Power of the Presiding Deity Karpaga Vinayagar is sky high according to His Devotees who come here to worship Him.  The local public of Kolapakkam, Gerugambakkam, Periyapanichery, Kovur etc come and pray this Presiding Deity before commencing any good work.  The Temple recently underwent renovation and painting work and now it has been painted colourfully and looks gorgeous.  In the recent past the Temple Kumbabishekam was performed in a grand manner.  Since this happens to be a very small Temple there are no other Sub Shrines for any other God.  Despite being a small Temple it has enough space for the Devotees to circumambulate and worship Lord Ganesha.  Vinayagar Chathurthi in particular and few other Hindu festivals are celebrated here with interest.
