Manapakkam is on the outskirts of Chennai near Porur and Gerugambakkam. Sri Velleeswarar Temple is located on the main road in Manapakkam. This Temple has two entrances. The first entrance is on the main road facing South and the main entrance is facing East. The full name of the Temple is Sri Thirupurasundari Samedha Sri Velleeswarar Temple.This Temple is believed to have been built around 1500 years ago. This Temple does not have a Rajagopuram or a Dwajasthambam. Instead there is a Neivedhiya Peedam or Bali Peedam and a Nandhi Vahanam looking towards the Moolasthanam in a multi pillared Mandapam. The multiple pillars of this Mandaban has lovely drwan Images of various Gods and Goddesses like Vinayagar, Rajamurugan, Madurai Kaliamman, Dhanalakshmi, Maha Vishnu, Angalamman, Madurai Meenakshi Amman, Thirupura Sundari, Dhattatreyar and Arthanareeswarar drawn on them. The Gopuram of the Moolasthanam has stucco Idols of Shivan and Parvathy seated on a Rishaba Vaahanam. To the left of this East Facing Gopuram is a Sub Shrine of Sri Harihara Ayyappan. 

The Moolasthanam of this Temple is East facing. This Presiding Deity of Sri Velleeswarar is believed to have been installed by Sage Sukrachariyar. The threshold of the Moolasthanam has two huge Idols of Dwara Baalakas on either side of it who are supposed to stand guard. In the Sanctum Sanctorum Sri Velleeswarar is East facing and in the form of a Shiva Lingam. He is considered as an incarnation of Shivan. Close to this is the South facing Shrine of His Consort Sri Thirupura Sundari Ambal who is seen in a standing posture. Standing guard to the Shrine of Sri Thirupura Sundari Ambal are two Dwara Baalaki Idols. Around the Koshtam of the Moolavar Narthana Vinayagar, Dhakshinamoorthy, Maha Vishnu, Brahmma, Durgai and Chandikeshwarar. 

The Temple has an East facing Sub Shrine of Sri Selva Vinayagar in its peripheral. There is a small Neivedhya Peedam and a Moonjur Vaahanam facing the Sub Shrine of Sri Selva Vinayagar. Similar to this there is an East facing Sub Shrine of Sri Siva Bala Murugan. In this Sub Shrine Sri Bala Murugan is seen alone and in a standing posture along with a Shiva Lingam which is closeby. There is a small Neivedhya Peedam and a Mayil Vaahanam facing the Sub Shrine of Sri Siva Bala Murugan. Sri Valli and Devasena are conspicuously missing in this Sub Shrine. There is a South facing Kaala Bhairavar Sannadhi in the outer peripheral and close to this is the Navagraha Sannadhi. There is an exclusive Sub Shrine for the Naaga Devathas which is East facing in the outer peripheral. Close to this is a Arasa Maram and a Neem Tree beneath which a Vinayagar Idol is seen along with a Naagar Idol. To the rear of this is a North facing Sub Shrine of the Saptha Kannigaigal who are as follows: Sri Indrani, Sri Chamundi, Sri Vaarahi, Sri Vaishnavi, Sri Goumari, Sri Maheswari and Sri Brahmmi. The Sthala Viruksham of this Temple is a Vilva Maram and the Sacred Tank or Pushkarani is known as Brahmma Theertham. The Sacred Tank is full of Dirt, Filth and Weeds and has to be spruced up at the earliest. The Temple has a Nandhavanam too. The Temple has a Madapalli or Temple Kitchen.

Pradhosham, Thirukarthigai, Arudhra Dharisanam, Aippasi Annabishekam, Panguni Uthiram, Thei Pirai Ashtami, Valar Pirai Ashtami, Shasti, Skandahara Chathurthi are some of the festivals celebrated in a grand manner.
