The Temple is located in the interior of Alapakkam close to Porur in Chennai. The Presiding Deity is Goddess Gangaiamman who is much revered by the people of that area. This Temple is a classic example of a Village Temple. It is believed that this Temple was built around 400 years ago. There are Shrines for Gangaiamman, Ponniamman and Nagathamman. There are separate for Sakthi Vinayagar and Selva Murugan too. There is separate enclosure for the Navagraham. The Sthala Viruksham of this Sacred Temple is an Arasa Maram. The Nag Devathas are placed beneath the Sthala Viruksham. This Temple attracts a huge number of Devotees during Tamil Aadi month and Chitra Pournami. The celing of the Temple is colourfully decorated and painted. The Temple Tank is huge and modern with bunds, steps and paintings all around, but it has to be spruced up to give the Temple a facelift. The Temple has a well built Compound wall with an iron gate.
