Shri Chennakesava Swamy Temple is located in a remote village called Aralaguppe quite far away from the main road. Aralaguppe comes within the jurisdiction of Tiptur Taluk in Tumkur District. Devotees willing to visit this far flung Temple have to be wary that a Vehicle is a must to reach here. The muddy road leading from the main road to this Temple is full of pits, potholes and slushy terrians with serpentine and narrow roads. There is a East facing Welcome Arch on approaching the Temple. The Chennakesava Swamy Temple is also East facing with its knee high compound wall. The Temple has another South facing entrance too and there is a Stone Dwajasthambam or a Flag Staff close to this. The structure and Architecture is typically that of the Hoysala Dynasty. The entire Temple has been built on an elevated platform and Devotees and Tourists may have to climb 5 to 6 steps to reach the Temple premises. The elevated podium on which this Temple has been built is Star shaped and looks so captivating to the onlookers. It is believed that the Hoysala Rulers built this Temple as a First Demo Temple and they went on to build many such similar Temples in different parts of their Kingdom. Two cylindrical structures are found at the start of these steps and this seems to give a facelift. Heading towards the Sanctum Sanctorum there are 8 pillars which are rock solid and they have intricate carvings etched on them. It looks so eye appealing on seeing these pillars. Apart from the pillars even the ceiling of this Mandabam has been designed so well with deft hands of the worksmen. It is said that this Mandabam was used to host Dance Functions in those years. Similar to having the Dwara Baalagas of certain other Temples, this Temple has a Ganapathi Idol on the left and an Idol of Mahishasuramarthini on the right before its Moolasthanam. In the threshold of the Sanctum Sanctorum there are two Idols of Dwara Baalagas which are embossed to it. In the early days of the Temple there was a Chennakeshava Swamy as the Presiding Deity. This former Presiding Deity has been removed and He is placed just outside the Sanctum Sanctorum and looks Southwards now. In the Moolasthanam the Presiding Deity of Chennakeshava Swamy is seen in a standing posture on a podium facing Eastwards. There is a East facing Garudalwar Image compressed on this Podium. There is a Adhi Shankara Idol in a sitting posture. Apart from this there is a South facing Ugra Narasimha Swamy Shrine built on an adjacent 4 pillared Mandapam. Apart from the Shrines of the Chennakeshava Swamy and Narasimha Swamy this Temple does not have any other Sub Shrines. The outer walls of the two Shrines of Sri Chenna Kesava Perumal and Sri Narasimha Swami have intricate and miniature Idols of the 24 forms of Maha Vishnu flanked by Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi, Yaksha and Yakshis, Narayana, Lakshmi, Dancing Ganesha, Mohini, Chathurbuja Saraswathi, Venugopala, Krishna, Lakshmi Narasimha, Ugra Narasimha and others. The miniature sculptures of Dasavatharams, rows of Horses, Elephants and other war scenes are also depicted as Idols on the outer walls. Though the numbers of local Devotees coming here is limited this Temple attracts a lot of Foreign Tourists who keep coming here to see its Architectural beauty.
