This Temple is located in Goravanahalli in Koratagere Taluk of Tumkur District in Karnataka. The Main Temple is slightly away from the main road and there is a colourful Welcome Arch at this point leading us to the much crowded and congested Temple. Karnataka is the 4th most popular tourist destination in India and this Temple is one of the main reasons for this. As the name suggests this is one of the wealthiest Temple in India by any standards and Goddess Mahalakshmi who is the wife of Maha Vishnu is known to be a Goddess of Wealth, Money and Prosperity. It is said that in 1900s a villager Abbayya came in possession of this Mahalakshmi Idol and very soon his brother Thotadappa joined him and they built a small Temple for Her. Then Kamalamma a lady took over from them and after a lull the Temple started growing in its stature from 1952 onwards. The Temple has a large multicoloured Rajagopuram with smallar arches on both sides. The Main Deity is housed in the Sanctum Sanctorum and special tickets are available to worship Her. There are sub shrines for Navagraha and Lord Anjaneyaswamy. Similarly the Naga Devathas and Marikamba are housed in separate Sub Shrines. The Temple is built close to Theetha Reservoir on River Swarnamuki. Though the Temple is open on all 365 days of a year it is flooded with Devotees on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and all other National Holidays. There are 3 to 4 Car Parking areas and on auspicious days it is so difficult to even park a small car. There is a Mandapam for the benefit of Devotees and small functions could be performed there. A Silver Car or Temple Chariot is available and kept in a closed enclosure. There is a Temple Elephant tethered outside the Temple premises for religious reasons and it serves as an amusement to the kids coming here. All around the Temple there are several shops selling pooja and divine articles.
