Sree Uddana Veerabhadra Swamy Temple is also known as Sri Muddu Veeranna Temple according to the Temple inscriptions. It is located right next to the main road on a curve. Those visiting Sri Chandikeshwara Temple would never miss this Temple since its located very close to it. Though many don't consider this Temple as a tourist attraction this Temple has started drawing a lot of Devotees and Tourists due to its location and proximity to the main road.
The Presiding Deity is the Demon King Sree Veerabhadra Swami. Some say that Sri Veerabhadra Swamy is an incarnation of God Shiva in an aggressive form. It is believed that Sati daughter of King Dhaksha married God Shiva against the wishes of her Father. Hence during a Yaga, Dhaksha insulted an uninvited Sati due to which she committed suicide. God Shiva was livid with anger and threw His Hair Lock which turned into Sri Veerabadhra and took away the life of Dhaksha. After the intervention of other Gods, Shiva brought Dhaksha back to life, but with a Goat head.
This is a North facing Temple and there is a Stone Pillar on the other side of the road facing this Temple. On entering this Temple there is a Dwajasthambam or a Flag Staff on an elevated Podium beneath which an Idol of Sri Anjaneya Swamy is found. Close to the Flag Staff is a pair of Divine Feet and 3 Nandhi Idols facing the Moolasthanam. In the Sanctum Sanctorum is a huge and resplendent black Idol of Sree Uddana Veerabhadra Swamy standing as tall as 16 feet. He is seen North facing with four hands. In his upper two hands he displays a Bow and an Arrow while the lower two hands displays a Sword and a Shield. Within the Moolasthanam there is a small Idol of a Goat Headed Daksha close to the Main Deity. A Sarvanga Lingam too is found within the Moolasthanam.
On the outer peripherals there is a Vilvam Tree and beneath it are the Idols of a Sivalingam, Nandhi and a few Naga Devathas kept on an elevated podium. There are a few rooms which are converted to Office Room, Temple Kitchen, Rest Room etc. A Temple Well is found within the Temple premises. Another unique factor of this Temple is that they do not have a Brahmin Purohit but instead a Poojary of the Lingayath performs the Pooja here.
