Kalkunte Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple is located in Kalkunte Agraharam in Hoskote Taluk of Bangalore Rural District. Lord Ranganathar is the Presiding Deity whereas the Thayaar is known by the name Ranganayaki. It is a gated community place comprising of Vadagalai Kannada Iyengars whose focus is on the Holy worship of Ranganathaswamy only. He is oftten called as Prasadapriya Ranganathar or one who loves Neivedhyam and this is the reason why this Temple has a latest and modern Temple Kitchen or Madapalli. Tamarind Rice (Puliyodharai) and Jaggary Rice (Sakkarai Pongal) are his favourite delicacies and the same is distributed to all Devotees coming here. The Temple dates back to the Vijayanagara Period and has a Rajagopuram and Prahaaram. The Dasavatharam are beautifully carved on the walls of the Temple and there are separate altars for Alwars and Archaryas. Lord Ranganathar could be seen in a reclined posture on the Aadhi Sesha facing North East with Sree Devi and Bhoo Devi seated near his Feet. Brahma and Garudan too are found with Him. The Temple is well compounded and fitted with strong iron grill gates. White washing and painting has been done recently and the Temple is kept meticulously clean.
