ISKCON Temple of Bangalore is located in a place called Hare Krishna Hill on Chord Road in Rajaji Nagar, Bengaluru. This Temple belongs to the well known International Socicety for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). This Temple is built on a sprawling land area and hence it is a treat to see this Temple. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupade is the Founder and Acharya of ISKCON to advance Vedic culture and learning. It was started in the Year May 1997 to commemorate the Birthday od this gentleman.
This huge Temple has a gold plated Dwajasthambam or Kodi Maram measuring around 56 Feet. Passersby can view this Dwajasthambam even without entering the Temple. To view this Dwajasthambam after Dusk is a treat to watch. The former President of India Late Shankar Dayal Sharma was kind enough to grace this Temple during his lifetime. This ISKCON Temple is said to be the largest of its kind in India. The Rajagopuram which is the primary place of worship looks gorgeous and resplendent to the eyes of the Devotees viewing it. The Idols of Sri Radhe and Sri Krishna look dazzling and Devotees looking at it are mesmerized by its sheer beauty. There are separate Sub Shrine for Sri Balarama, Sri Prahaladha Narasimha, Sri Srinivasa Govindha and Sri Nitai Gauranga and all of them are kept meticulously clean despite the steady inflow of Krishna Devotees and Tourists. The Temple dazzles during day in Sunshine and at Night when the Temples lights are lit it looks awe inspiring. This is the prime reason as to why it attracts not only the Krishna Devotees but Tourists coming here from all over India and abroad. Close to the Rajagopuram is an outdoor Theatre idsplaying shows of Sri Krishna Bhagwan and all related matters. This area could easily hold hundreds of Devotees. The four Temple Gopurams are joined though a glass plane and when the Hari Naam Kirtan is sung there is an air of reverence all around. Particularly during Janmasthami this ISKCON Temple in Bangalore draws thousands of Devotees but the crowd is well managed by the Temple Authorities. The Nurseries or the Temple Nandhavanam around this Temple is a treat to watch. There is a Vegetarian Cafetaria to cater the needs of the Devotees who come in large numbers. For anyone visiting Bangalore either for sight seeing or for Religious, Devotional purposes this Temple is a must visit place which cannot be missed.
