Sri Jagannatha Perumal Temple is located close to the main road in Thirumazhisai. In ancient times Thirumazhisai was known by several names such as Chathurvedhimangalam, Mahisaram and Mahakshethram. This Temple is believed to have been built by the Cholas and later developed by the Vijayanagara Rulers.The full name of this Temple is Sri Jagannatha Perumal Matrum Sri Thirumazhisai Alwar Temple. This Temple has an East facing five tiered Rajagopuram before which is a huge vacant space. A four pillared stone Naalu Kaal Mandapam is seen opposite to the Rajagopuram. The base of these pillars are etched with lovely Images. Beyond it is another new Mandapam which is almost vacant. The Temple has a huge compound wall with the Idols of Garudalwars in a seated posture on it. Beyond the Rajagopuram is a stone Dwajasthambam, a Neivedhya Peedam or Bali Peedam, a tall Dwajasthambam or a Kodi Maram and a Sub Shrine of Garudalwar which is West facing towards the Moolasthanam. Devotees cant enter the Maha Mandapam leading to the Moolasthanam through this way since it is closed. Devotees may have to take a left turn and circumambulate for the Maha Mandapam. On entering the Rajagopuram there is a Temple Office on the left and on the right is the Sub Shrine of Sri Manavala Maamunigal. To the left is another 4 pillared Mandapam which could be used for Divine Rituals such as Oonjal etc. Devotees may have to enter the Moolasthana Sannadhi through a huge four pillared Mandapam on top of which there is a Sangu and a Chakkram with the Idols of Garudalwar and Anjaneyar on either end. The inside of this Mandapam they has a North facing Pallikonda Ranganathar Image. Devotees may have to climb 4 to 5 steps to reach the Moolasthana Mandapam. There are two huge Dwara Balakaa Idols who stand guard on either side of the Moolasthanam. In the Sanctum Sanctorum Sri Jagannatha Perumal is seen East facing and in a sitting posture along with His Consorts Rukmani and Sathyabhama. The Idols of Brighu Maharishi and Markandeya Maharishi are also seen in the Sanctum Sanctorum. The Urchavamoorthy Idol of Sri Jagannatha Perumal is seen with his Consorts in a standing posture. Just before the Sanctum Sanctorum there is an enclosure in which all the Alwars Idols are seen South facing. Around the Koshtam of the Presiding Deity there are South facing Idols of Thumbikkai Alwar and Maha Vishnu and a North facing Idol of Vishnu Durgai. The Shrine of Thirumazhisai Alwar is South facing and there is a Name Board displaying the Shrine's Name is Thirumazhisaipiran or Bhakthisaarar. He is seen in a sitting posture and it is said that His Right Toe is called as Gnana Nethram or Moonram Thiruvadi. The Urchavamoorthy Idol of Sri Thirumazhisai Alwar is also kept within His Shrine. It is very important to note here that Sri Thirumazhisai Alwar was born in the same Thirumazhisai. Between the Moolavar Sannadhi of Sri Jagannatha Perumal and the Sannadhi of Thirumazhisai Alwar is a small Sub Shrine of Sri Navaneetha Krishnan. The Consort of Sri Jagannatha Perumal is known as Sri Thirumangaivalli Thaayar. The Shrine of Sri Thirumangaivalli Thaayar is located in the outer peripheral. Devotees may have to climb 5 to 6 steps to reach the multi pillared Mandapam of Sri Thirumangaivalli Thaayar. In Her Shrine Sri Thirumangaivalli Thayar is seen in a seated posture facing East. She is seen with four hands and Her upper two hands holds two Lotus Flowers whereas Her lower two Hands is seen Blessing Her Devotees. Her Urchavamoorthy Idol is also seen within the same East facing Shrine.
The outer peripheral of this Temple has a West facing Sub Shrine of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy. The Gopuram of this Sub Shrine has a coloured Idol of Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar on top of it and Devotees may have to climb 3 to 4 steps to reach this Sub Shrine. Here Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar is seen West facing with Goddess Lakshmi setaed on His left lap. The Sorga Vaasal or Paramapadha Vaasal is South facing in the outer peripheral and Devotees may have to climb 3 to 4 steps to reach it. The Gopuram of this Paramapadha Vaasal has a coloured Idol of Pallikonda Ranganathar along with Sri Devi, Bhoo Devi and Brahmma. Standing guard to this South facing Paramapadha Vaasal are two huge coloured Idols of Dwara Baalakas. The Sub Shrine of the Andal is located in a East facing multi pillared Mandapam which can be circumambulated by the Devotees. The Gopuram of this Sub Shrine has a coloured Idol of Sri Andal in a standing posture. In the Sub Shrine Sri Andal is seen East facing and in a standing posture along with Her Uchavamoorthy Idol. The ceiling of the Andal Sub Shrine is etched with various designs. This Jagannath Temple in Thirumazhisai is called as Madhya Jagannath Temple whereas the Thirupullani Jagannath Temple is called as Aadhi Jagannath Temple or Dhakshina Jagannath Temple or Keela Jagannath Temple and Puri Jagannath Temple is also known as Vada Jagannath or Uttar Jagannath Temple. Sri Jagannatha Perumal Temple has a mammoth Temple Car close to the East facing Rajagopuram and they have safely secured it and this has to be reached through several steps for which they have a concrete structure for climbing on top of it. The Sthala Viruksham of the Temple is known as Parijatham and the Temple has a huge Pushkarani or Temple Tank known as Brighu Theertham. The Temple has a Kalyana Mandapam in the name of Sri Thirumangavalli Thayar which is seen very close to the Temple. The Temple has a huge Free Car Parking facilities.
