Sri Agathiswarar Temple is sandwiched between two companies and is located in Noombal, a suburb between Iyyappanthangal and Thiruverkadu. There is a narrow lane leading from the Main Road to the Temple. This is a very ancient Temple which is believed to have been built by King Kulothunga Cholan. It is also said that Sage Agasthiyar was very fond of this place and had come and prayed here. The Sankarachariyars of Kanchi Mutt viz. Maha Periyavar, Jayendra Saraswathi and Vijayendrar too had come here to worship Lord Agastheeswarar several years before. This Temple gains prominence due to the fact that it is considered as and Agni Lingam Temple. This Temple is East facing and there is a Bali Peedam close to which a Nandhi Vaahanam facing the Moolasthanam could be seen under a small four pillared enclosure. Beyond it is a four pillared Maha Mandapam on top of which there are Idols of Shiva, Parvathy, Ganapathy, Murugan, Nandhi Bhagwan etc. This Maha Mandapam leads to the Sanctum Sanctorum which has a tile flooring and Idols of two Dwara Baalakas are seen in a standing posture. Inside the Sanctum Sanctorum Sri Agastheeswarar, who is an incarnation of Lord Shiva is seen in the form of a Shiva Lingam. Above the Presiding Deity is a lovely Rudraksha Pandhal and Lord Natarajas Idol too is seen there on one side. The Consort os Sri Agastheeswarar is Goddess Parvathy who is known here as Sri Anandavalli Ambal. She could be seen South facing in Her Shrine. There is a Urchavamoorthy Idol of Shiva and Parvathy and another Idol of Sage Agasthiyar kept preserved in the Shrine of Sri Anandhavalli Ambal. On the right of the Maha Mandapam is a Sub Shrine for Kaala Bhairavar who is carved out of a black stone. The Temple is unique since the rear of the Temple resembles the Gajabrushtam. Likewise the Temple's Vimanam too is similar to Gajabrushtam. The Idols of the following God are kept around the Koshtam is Vinayagar, Dhakshinamoorthy, Maha Vishnu, Brahmma, Durgai and Chandikeshwarar. There are exclusive Sub Shrines for Mambazha Vinayagar and Valli Devasena Samedha Subramaniyar and between these two is a tiled Thulasi Maadam. Beyond the Murugan Sannadhi is an elevated pedestal on top of which is mounted a Shiva Lingam and it is believed that Kaalava Siddhar had attainted Samadhi at the very same place. Unlike other Temples the Navagraha enclosure in this Temple has been built much bigger. The Surya Bhagwan occupies the prime position at the centre of the Navagrahams in His usual Horse driven Chariot and He is flanked by His two Consorts Usha and Chaya Devi. The Navagrahams around them are featured along with their Consorts. The Temple has a Ghoshala in the rear side. One side of the Temple has a huge Temple Kitchen and free Annadhanam is distributed to all Devotees coming here on festive occasions.
